Errr...That was a level (obviously?)...although Cates is certainly more articulate than 2+2'ers give him credit for.

I second this.

The guy is a monster player and makes bar none the most interesting/well articulated vids available anywhere.

He has more than any other player the respect of the entire poker community, is classy to a fault, honest, etc...

Someone start a petition thread or something in NVG to get Phil's attention and make him see how many people want his videos (kids).
Not gonna do it, I suck at starting threads, but I'll gladly sign it.

I don't have a subscription there but I suggest that everyone cancels their subscription regardless of how much of a fan you were of Phil based on the way he treated him. There is no reason to not allow him on the site anymore and delete his blog and ****, and I would not want to give money to a site with shady practices like that . We need to learn to associate ourselves with well-run companies. This isn't one.

If you actually read it yourself, you'd know that it clearly doesn't state why he's leaving.

Wow. Seems like the owner sucks a bag o dicks. Phils vids were the best anywhere. Giggy and Don were amazing as well. Now all three of them are gone, and so will be BFP all together.

I liked Giggy's videos a lot... I actually never bothered to watch Niman's after the first couple. Pretty backwards stuff!

Seems as appropriate a time as any to share a story from the beginning of the site. Phil Galfond was the lead instructor, but not involved in any of the details I'm about to share.
I think we are still missing one bloody chapter. Great story about two-faced back-stabber nevertheless.

Because he created the most value for the company, and was unique as an analyst and player.

It never ceases to amaze me in general how badly poker is run as a business.

Phil Galfond was the lead instructor, but not involved in any of the details I'm about to share. Right after launch, there was a buzz about BFP. The site seemed like a big success and myself and the other Bluefire pros felt we were underpaid. We decided to have a skype group and discuss if we wanted to go to managment and re-negotiate our contracts. Niman, in particular, was very convincing when he told us our value and how underpaid we were. He suggested we re-negotiate and all take the same % as one another, a significant increase for all involved. Niman instructed us that we don't talk to the owner directly, rather, we'd talk to him as a group.

After sending out an e-mail to management about our raise, no one talked to the owner alone. That is, everyone but Niman Kenkre. He was playing both sides, orchestrating our union and talking to the owner behind our backs. At one point, he even asked, "What's Martin getting? We don't need him. Give me my original contract and whatever you're giving Martin and I'll sign right now". Giggy is really cool, so I'm glad this didn't happen. He then let the owner know that he could break up the group, if he give in to his demands. They came to an agreement. Niman then came to the group, letting us know that it was unlikely that we were getting a raise and we should all back off. The union disbanded.

Needless to say, I felt very betrayed.

Don Nguyen
what the flying ****? Samoleus is pretty much the last guy i would have expected this from. Seems like a supercool guy.

This shows that Phil has never had a job outside of poker. Otherwise, he would have known that it's standard for employees to have the class to give two-weeks notice when resigning, only to have their employers turn around and fire them on the spot.
