Not claiming to know anything about the situation, but replacing a dev team is very hard, it's even harder when your initial team was ****. Without proper notation throughout the code, it's extremely hard to go in and make changes without breaking a million other things, even with proper notation it's already really hard. It's actually a legit way for some programmers to maintain job security. Starting from scratch isn't an option for them at this point so here we are.
Code is weird and there are things that shouldnt be tied together that end up that way, in world of warcraft, they couldnt change the size of your starting backpack for 13 years bc it was somehow tied into core functions of other seemingly unrelated things, **** is weird.
Personally i just hope they have enough runway to make it a breakeven point operationally, from there I think Phil is the exact person we want making decisions bc he has a true players perspective. I'd rather take him over someone like rob yong with arguably a better business acumen but who honestly seems like kind of a ******
