They need tourneys. That's what could bring traffic. While this challenge is exciting and should help traffic a bit while it runs I doubt it will bring in meaningful traffic that will stay around.

edit: I have lots of sympathy for Phil and like him . But i do not like RIO for just one reason: site is 100% annonymous. This kills a important/fun part of poker (metagame). It also reduce edge and induce edges. Iam fine and think it is OK a site who does not have poker tracker/HM or any software . But has to have screenames. You can write notes, have screenames, normal. Make it like PartyPoker. I think this would be more fair and maybe increase action ? I guess Iam not the target for RIO but I would take a shot if site had normal screenames.
btw I remember how excited I was creating screenames to poker sites hahaha .

Phil any update on when this could start? Before 2020? I'll also most likely redownload RIO to rail and end up redepositing for atleast a while to see how things have improved as i was an early depositor and the site was too buggy for me. GL again and hope RIO suceeds

Yeah there’s a reason I said a “bird” told me I remember sweating urubu flip with Ben86 back in the day while my friend from Portugal was over and he told me that’s what it meant.

Galfond has to make a decision, either he runs the poker site or he does things like that, plays in WSOP etc. You can't do both and take care of all site-related things without slowing things down just like they have done before.

It'd be extremely interesting if he made the offers he has received public. I'm dying to know who has reached out to him, what stakes they're willing to play him at, and under what conditions.

It takes a while to get the details ironed out.......

Plus he probably wants to keep building this up, for as long as possible......

And from everything hes said, Its gonna be multiple opponents that he needs to get a deposit from first.......
