The best argument I've heard from a pro on these issues.

+1 to must move games and KOTH (at least at high snakes). -1 or not sure about some of his other topics

I can't believe that the mods would delete a post that starts to encourage a non idiotic discussion on discussing changes that could either improve or damage online games. Seems very anti freedom of speech, even anti-American.

Now I will just sit quietly and wait for my ban.

especially the HU lobby has to be changed. The Koth conecpt is a pretty good idea and shouldnt be too hard to implement.

Please explain more about the KOTH concept, I didn't understand it since english isn't my first language.

I must say very well written by Phil, although there are some discretions in his blog I wouldn't completely agree with but overall there needs to be some changes...

I hope it would be optional. I would not mind sitting with anonymous players, but I want my name and avatar displayed.

Honestly I really don't see any of these issues as serious problems for the community as a whole, and see no real need to jump through hoops trying to force people to play or not play, even though doing so might benefit Galfond.

The only issue he raises that I'd be somewhat concerned about is PTR and other tracking sites, because they offer information that the player has not accumulated personally. Last I checked, the major sites were taking concrete steps against such tracking sites anyway.

Really? I mean if someone at the table is throwing their money away, you want him/her to come back next time, right? But when you make them feel uncomfortable then they wont. So its a problem. Seems simple to me.

I don't understand why pokerstars doesn't at least try KOTH. It's not like HU games could get any worse.

Also it works well at HU SNGs if I'm not mistaken

that was really annoying.
iirc Ilios was calling a non reg plr with a 30k stack to go play at his comfortzone stakes (even though he plays ss)

really loved this screenshot Phil

KOTH works in husng, on FT they had unlimited lobbies per stake and you would get waiting lists getting pretty long. The only downside to KOTH is that since so many people are trying to get a lobby that very often you are sitting with regs, many regs chop the game and just eat the rake when this happens. I don't even see this as I feel I have a small edge on many regs but for the weaker regs its likely difficult.

Personal DBs and HUDs are a bit different. No one’s results are public, which takes care of a lot of my issues with tracking sites. That said, databases and HUDs put the recreational player at a greater disadvantage than they already are. Sure, they’re allowed to use a HUD as well, but that’s a dumb argument.
recreational players are allowed to read 2p2 and poker books too. but thats dumb. lets close all poker training sites, 2p2 and burn all poker books

If a recreational player saw what your screen looked like while you played against them, how much less would they be excited to play?
if a recreational player heard your thoughts in your head while you played against them, how much less would they be excited to play?

etc etc..

I thought this was pretty well written.

I will say this much regarding the HU situation: I moved from full ring to six max years back because I wanted more action, and loved the change. I would have moved to heads up by now just for even more action, but the current situation is disgusting.

Sorry, I don't want to play in a game where there are 30 players doing nothing, not playing each other, and looking to smash my BR when I sit down. So basically... regs will line up a mile long when I'm a fishy idiot looking to learn the game, but then as soon as I get to the point of being profitable, I won't be able to find action and will be reduced to also sitting alone at the tables?

Thanks, but no thanks.
