Petition for Daniel Negreanu to quit Pokerstars

It has now become undeniable that Amaya is money hungry and doesn't care about players at all. Negreanu has made significant amount of money based on his 'nice guy' image through sponsorship deals. If he really is a nice guy and wants to do what's good for poker, it's his time to step up and take a stand against pokerstars. I humbly request him to terminate his contract and make a public announcement for why he did. If it's not possible for him to get out of his contract, make a public statement announcing he at least no longer supports the direction the new management has taken.

No one cares about what KevinB29 says on forums. You can get outraged all you want but no one will hear you. Only if person of Negreanu's reputation and his relations with press says something, we'll be heard.

Even if quitting pokerstars is bad for Negreanu in the short term, his reputation will go up that much more as a result and get him a better sponsorship deal with another side. So, Daniel, please please take a stand here FOR THE PLAYERS

If he actually cares about the players and the state of the game, he should speak up now. He will probably not, though.

Do you expect the cashier at your local Wallmart to speak up if they increase soda prices?
If he doesn't, do you blame him for not caring for the customers?

Give DN a break. He's a longtime employee at Stars and doing his best to promote the company. You can't expect him to speak up as long as his employer doesn't do anything illegal.

Cashier at a local walmart has a family to feed. He can't afford to quit.

Daniel Negreanu is a multi-millionnaire who will find another sponsorship deal right away. Daniel doesn't have to be with a company knowing that his bosses are disgustingly greedy who are actively devising plans to screw over the players.

Unlike Amaya, I hope Daniel has a conscience and he will do the right thing.

exactly. DN is always about himself first and foremost. I usually don't mind people with this life attitude but I did heckle him a lot when he started his "how can we make poker better for everyone thread".

He's not a friend to players. He's a friend of whomever can make him the most money.

I would and have if the company is no longer in line with the morals that I expected upon being hired.

I don't expect him to quit but I do expect him to know his role which is a spokesman for Pokerstars like Michael Jordan is for Nike. His nonsense about caring for players is as absurd as Jordan saying he cares about workers in China.

Re: Petition for Daniel Negreanu to quit Pokerstars

We have no idea what Daniel's contract says. It's possible he's not allowed to make public statements about Stars without their consent. Regardless it most definitely will not help his chances of signing a new deal if he turns on his current employer. No one wants to hire a guy who will try to damage their business when he's unhappy. Daniel is hired to promote the company. Not to run it.

If he wants to make a statement then he should simply not renew his contract when the terms are up. No public statements. No need to be unprofessional about it.

No need to petition. If the current trend of cost-cutting at Amaya continues, I believe DN will be fired by his boss very soon to save the company more money. I don't think he is worth much money anyway in the current poker environment.

Moronic request. As far as I know, PStars is not doing anything illegal.

If you don't like the changes, go play elsewhere online or put on a fresh diaper and go out and play at a B&M casino.

DN being cut wouldn't bother me in the least. What will bother me is the inevitable job cuts that will occur for the lower level employees within the company. Guys like Julio, a support worker who has done an excellent job for me in regards to Live events registration are the people I'm worried for.

Re: Petition for Daniel Negreanu to quit Pokerstars

You must have missed that Negreanu is the puppet of AmayaStars.

He fits right in so I voted "No".

I wouldn't even give a rats ass if he switched sides (starting to speak in favour of players), he already revealed his true character.

Some of you guys are really dumber than bricks.

If Daniel Negreanu is an honest man and his true motivation is to protect the integrity of the game of Poker and promote poker as a longterm thing, as he has said himself, Then he should immediately quit his position at Stars since it's becoming obvious that they look at the company as a short-term investment aimed at generating most profit FOR THEMSELVES and eliminate the option of making a good living of of Poker. The dream of making a sustainable income from poker is what keeps the game alive and Amaya is butchering that idea. THAT is why he should speak up!

This thread should not be closed as DN has publicly spoken out that he cares for the long term health for the game. If he hadn't made that statement then fair play by the mods but he should be held accountable for his words.

Tho he said that while defending these changes by Amaya, like they'd bring anything good to the ecology lol.

Like I said, not only is he an attention whore but also Amaya's very own *****.

I don't think Dnegs is Amaya's *****. He's just a bit naive when it comes to the casino-conglomerate's intentions. He needs to wake up and realize that they are hurting the fabric of the game, BIGTIME.

He is certainly not nave... although if he does get fired he will say that he was nave and sorry to the players for trusting a site that he truly believed had the players best intentions at heart. He wouldn't say this because he means it or ever believed it, but would do so as it would raise his profile with players and get him a better chance to be signed with someone else.

“I've seen a lot of talk about the poker ecosystem and what kills games, etc. Do you know what kills games and destroys the poker ecosystem above and beyond all the things mentioned? Winning players. Yup, you guys lol. The winning players as a whole win a lot more money than the company makes each and every year. Yet, oddly, they still offer VIP programs to the very people who are essentially "killing the games."

“If Spin N' Go's deterred pros from playing, that actually HELPS the poker ecosystem immensely, it just may not help YOU personally. I love, love, love, and love this concept and if it helps to level the playing field a little bit, while allowing rec players to stretch their dollars a bit further than before, I think in the end that is a win for everyone- even the winning players who are upset about it now.”

Mentioning they're still ODDLY offering vip programs to winning players is the indicator of what's going to happen 2016.

That's very pessimistic. Sounds like u have a chicken to pluck with him for some reason.

If Amaya was a company that sold staple food to third world countries, you'd be totally right to appeal to the morals of its employees.

Re: Petition for Daniel Negreanu to quit Pokerstars

He's always been very vocal against unethical behavior in the gambling world. He even said Lederer and Bitar should take baseball bats to the balls. When the statement made a stir, he passionately reaffirmed it in a video blog. Well, now he's in a position where he can do the right thing, or sell out. If he doesn't do the right thing, maybe he should take a baseball bat to the balls.

Read his last post on 2+2. He doesn't care one bit about winning players... (which he is as well)
