I'm surprised by how little discussion 2+2 has about this issue. Although not much info yet. But seems sickening, looks like we cant go too long without a scandal in the world of poker :/

Someone who can cliff all the details and separate rumours from facts should prob make a new thread, sounds insane and I really feel for anyone cheated here.

This is getting surprisingly little traction. If just half of the rumors are true we are easily talking one of the top 3 scandals of all time in online poker.

The culprit is alleged to have scammed danish and international HS profiles for significant amounts over a significant period of time. The alleged victims are well known both in the online community and some also on the live circuit. Some of the alleged victims are rumoured to have gone broke or given up poker as a result of this.

And mind you, the alleged scammer and some of the alleged victims are known to have been VERY close friends. It gets even worse, when you consider the cynical and shrewd methods the alleged scammer has used.

It is rumored the scammer supplied cheap laptops and PCs for his friends and victims. It is also rumored he has set up a fixed HU high stakes match against an unknown german whale at an EPT event.


Edit: This is totally and complete speculation on my part:
Personally I find it highly unlikely he has been acting on his own throughout. If I were one of those who had my laptop compromised at the EPT Barcelona event I would look into this. It is certainly not out of the realm of possibilites that whoever the alleged scammer has been working with, or he himself, can have ties to that scandal.

As of right now that is not possible. Everything is just rumors.

Today the danish court system laid down a ban on naming the alleged scammer by name.

None of the alleged victims have made any official statements.

There is an ongoing investigation and I doubt anything official will be put out anytime soon.

Yeah I get that, but it's clearly a fact a massive scam has gone on with compromised computers inside the poker world. Far bigger than what is in the title of this (old) thread.

I know for a fact that he were very close friends and training partners with "Lottenice".
I know he were very good friends with almost all HS players in Denmark, celebrating new years, taking trips and so on together.
His friends includes such as Lottenice, Peter Eastgate, AlexKP, MrSmits, Tox amongst almost all other HS profiles from Denmark.

Prob hasn't gotten much traction b/c there's more sizzle than steak at the moment. Seems to be mostly speculation and conjecture...yes, I guess there's this report that it's become an official police matter now(?), but all I'm saying is that it'll get more attention once accompanied by names + details.

True, the facts are as followed.
He has left the country, for Dubai.
He has left his board post in his biotech business
He has been reported to the police by some of his best friends.
He is not answering any questions, as he did before in the danish poker forum.

The people who reported him is not answering questions either, so for now we all have to wait it out.

If I remember correctly AlexKP complained several times about bad luck / 'rigged' big games on iPoker on 2p2. Maybe he was not whining after all.

Agree, and for what it's worth, this thread has (as of this post) almost 42,000 views with just 110 replies. That's about twice the usual view-post ratio in NVG.

To me, that means the story may not yet have much discussion due to the dearth of info available, but it certainly has some interest thus far. Hell, this is probably my 20th visit to the thread and my first reply — definitely rare for my verbose self.

It has been mentioned a lot in danish poker circles that the accusers would make a public statement today, however, none has been made. I can only speculate, but its not impossible that they are being legally adviced not to make any public statements. Dunno, again complete speculation on my part.

the problem is, that the sources are in danish and this thread hadn't much infos. a few months back, nvg was a good source to pick up new stories. nowadays most of the threads have almost zero content and other subforums are better (e.g. internet poker)

anyway, F5 brought it and PokerNews as well, so i guess the news will be get more attention and other outlets will bring it, too.

The problem is that people are forced to be quiet for legal reasons. There are probably a lot of the people involved who would love to come forward with everything they know.

Anyway, the latest update is that the Danish police have officially charged 2 people with fraud. Both of their names are being kept hidden for the time being. It's still unclear what the second person's role was or who it is.

Apparently the alleged scammer has not fled to Dubai but is still in Copenhagen.

2 have been charged but there is still an injunction on naming names. The main culprit denies he is guilty.

Rumours has it that he had at one point offered to pay back $800k to the group of alleged victims. Assuming that is correct, that could certainly be seen as an admission of guilt.

Perhaps another thread should be opened with no names of anybody mentioned, to make it easier for people physically located in Denmark to provide information without breaching the court order.
