The eight defendants were each charged with one count of illegal transmission of wagering information and one count of operating an illegal gambling business, both felonies.

Following his arrest in Macau, Paul Phua was released on bail and flew to Las Vegas on a private jet, where he and his associates are alleged to have resumed their illegal gambling at Caesars Palace, the complaint alleged.

The group reserved three high-roller villas at the Strip resort and at their request was provided with an “unusually large amount of electronics equipment and technical support.”

After Caesars technicians tipped off authorities, FBI agents posed as electrical and computer experts and were able to see first-hand the high-tech, illegal gambling operation, the complaint alleged.

Federal search warrants were executed last Wednesday at the three Caesars Palace villas, the complaint said

There's the problem right there. They let outsiders get involved.

This whole thing is kind of dumb. A rich person can give another rich person 50 million dollars. But if the money is because they bet on the world cup then it is illegal. ugh

the Casinos will cover this up relatively well and apologize to Phua for the inconvenience.

Sick about Robl willing to put up 1.5mil straight up. Baller and probably a good indication that we have no idea what happens in Macau in regards to money won and lost.

Seng Cheng Yong appears to be Richard Yong's official name. Age is the same and that name appears in Hendon mob for a Manila Millions final table that was actually him.

The consequences for the economics at the top level of the game are profound.

They took phua's 48 mill dollar jet as collateral. Phua's bail was like 2 mill or something so Robl paid 1.5 mill of his own money to help.

Caesers must be losing there f***ing minds that there employees tipped off the FBI, are these guys crazy?? Getting whales arrested? How do they work for a casino lol?? Guys will be canned for sure.

These guys are usually listed as businessmen but what is their actual business background? Are we sure they are not primarily illegal bookmakers?

Maybe Caesar's doesn't like that they are running their own book instead of using the hotel one. You do wonder though how any of this is different to the various prop bets and other forms of P2P gambling that is openly discussed in this forum and elsewhere.

Caesars are huge life nits or more likely the Feds have them by the balls and threatened to fine them like they fined the Venetian for their money laundering incident. I'm having a hard time believing Caesars (or any other casino) would voluntarily tip off the Feds to these guys doing just about anything in their casino as long as they were degenning it up enough at baccarat. Also lol @ people predicting these apparently low-level Caesars employees will be fired. We're talking about private villas and crimes involving $50+ million..pretty sure some very high level managerial and legal experts were the ones working with law enforcement here.

gonna go out on a limb and guess this wasn't a few low level employees acting on their own volition.
hard to imagine this wasn't known about at the highest levels of the corporation.
