Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

Interesting, couldn't the usernames be changed every 6 months? They must be receiving lots of complaints about bots and suspicious accounts. With this move they could become immediately ignored and also the soft collusion between players in some stables in MTTs will be undetectable.

Now they just need to recruit new fun players from the USA (like ignition) or from some Asian regions like some untracked sites. Oh they can't (!) they have to follow strict gambling regulations because of being public traded company. Damn unlucky.

Btw, was by any chance was this "great" idea suggested by Pads and his stable?

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

Just started playing again on party recently because their software finally improved to being playable.

It actually became my favourite site to play on and seemed like they can finally compete with stars in a meaningful way. Their philosophy is the closest we have to the old Stars in terms of how they treat the players.

And then these changes are announced... FML

(Also Jeff Gross is an awful podcast host. Wasn't able to ask a single interesting follow up question and go deeper on any interesting topics that came up, and there were a lot of them. He needs to relax and actually listen to his guest)

My exact experience, and I was getting ready to move completely from stars.

I was hoping I wouldnt mind anonymous poker but playing some on RIO taught me that it just takes the fun out of the game for me. gg

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

Partypoker threw me off because nobody from Thailand can play and I don't even care any more. 888 is a joke, I don't play there any more. I'll just keep playing MTTs on Stars until the rake goes over 50%, then I'll stop.

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

Allowing nicknames changes, hiding nicknames only help the stables from east europe and the GTO bots to be undetectable while they rape the decent/legit players that aren't cheating.

Why would Party make the life of the cheaters/colluders/booters easy by hiding their names and make them undetectable from the legit players?

Are you trying to protect the rec or trying to create an environment where rec and legit regs get raped faster?

PD: GTO BOTS will come in hordes if these changes take place.

Hi hypergeometry,

Rob Yong talked about this during the March 30th podcast interview with Jeff Gross here.

(28:55-30:12) According to Rob Yong, partypoker is in a far superior position over players to identify bots on their site. He states that partypoker has developed an algorithm over the past year that is going to help clean up the games throughout 2019.

(31:55-33:15) More on the site's security tools, and how Rob Yong believes party could lose "$10 million" in revenue from prohibited software users/colluders/etc. in 2019 -- but that the result will be the "cleanest" and "fairest" poker site by the end of this year.

(33:25-35:08) Rob Yong says that partypoker will likely ban HUDs following the Powerfest series, and that once this happens in late April, every single partypoker player will need to create a new "alias."

My feelings exactly. I was enjoying PP last couple months, guess I'll WD and take my business back to PS (begrudgingly).

Can it be that a large company makes highly impactful strategic decisions based largely on one man's "beliefs" and that his beliefs happen to be miles off the mark? I find that hilarious in a warped kind of way.

Will I be able to choose my old name as my 'new' name? I don't care if people datamined against me.

That's a good question and i'm also curious as to just how there going to go about this whole name change situation..

There's obviously many thousands of player aliases associated with PP so, are they going to delete them all and start from scratch, with perhaps something along the lines of 'first in - first served' and players being able to choose any name (including someone else's old one if they so wish) or will everyone have to come up with a completely brand new alias that's never been used before?

Making thousands of players change there alias to one that's never been used before (resulting in thousands of old ones going to waste and never being seen on PP again) would not only suck IMO but, would also severely limit players options in regards to coming up with a new one.

Anyone got any ideas on just how this might work? Has this type of scenario played out on any other poker site in the past as a reference?

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

In the early days of online poker many of the sites had user names limited to only letters and numbers. Now most sites can do characters like periods, dashes, underscores, etc. So there is no worry of a limited number of user names.

For safety reasons they should lock out previous names to avoid misdeeds by people attempting identity mischief.

Congratulations for the most LOL-worthy post of 2019. You really should research your subject matter before posting such things.

A PP rep stated yesterday that further information/announcements will be released shortly and that it's likely changes will come into effect for the start of May.

There's only 2 weeks between now and then so, I expect everyone should be made aware of what's going on by way of official announcements over the coming days.

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

They haven't said they're going anonymous as far as I can tell? It should just be a screen name change for everyone and changing the way HH's are saved like microgaming, with minimal changes to the lobby, thus removing HUDS and tracking. Did I miss something?

Re: Partypoker about to announce big changes?

I think they're just going to completely get rid of savable hand histories, like Unibet, Sky, RIO. Plus the name change will kinda be like a complete reset for the player base. Think they have to keep player location if they want to retain integrity though.

Although I don't have any details in regards to the specifics of exactly what will be announced/implemented, it does seem that the rumors currently circulating regarding HUD's have some merit and that PP are moving to (in there view/opinion) "level the playing field for all".
If Party Poker cared a tiny bit about protecting players and the game, bots would be near non existant threat and also leveling the playing field translates to ' We are banning huds to reduce winnnig players edge and also we have introduced 'my game' to help fish improve,so the money can keep going around in circles until we rake 'em all to death'.

No poker site these days and I mean NONE do anything for the benefit of players ever. It's for the shareholders/owners benefit. They are business men,yet don't seem to grasp the concept that if the dream of making a living playing online poker is nuked, then their sites will also be eventually nuked!
