A rumor has been circulating over the last few days that PP is about to ban all HUD/tracking and support software across the entire site.

To add to those rumors, I have today seen a PP rep's response to the question of "Is that true that PP will ban HUDs in April?", to which they responded "We will be making further ecology changes - yes. More news to follow soon".

Seems there's a high chance the rumors have some merit and that very soon PP will update its software policy restricting the use of HUD's and associated software.

What do you all think, will this happen and if so, what are your thoughts on the effects of such a decision?

We should ask ourselves how many players are playing on hudless poker rooms? Then you will find the effects of this decision.

They don’t even enforce their rules as it stands.

This in a nutshell is the problem with this move. Even if they could enforce it effectively the issue is players perception of Party in general when it comes to security.

In theory a good move... but if bots are rampant and stables are colluding as is the perception then this move will turn away honest players as detection becomes even harder from the players end.

No opposed. Would be nice to be able to track somehow to keep score. Party should make the info available somehow... IMO.

I think they can make it so that HH's are available to download 24 hours after they've been played. Then regs can upload the hands for tracking / analysis without using a HUD in game. I'm absolutely fine with removing HUDs, just please don't slash hu cash.

Hard not to fear the worst, but party generally haven't been recking people with their moves, so lets hope for the best, eh.

Im a fan of this move and like the way party are trying to improve unlike stars who just don't give a crispy duck.

HUDs should have been banned a long time ago. In fact, they should've never been allowed in the first place. But that's another discussion altogether.

On this particular issue regarding Party, regs will argue that:

a) HUDs help to detect bots/cheaters
b) anyone determined enough to get round this HUD ban will have a significant advantage

The answers to those are:

a) Party was not doing anything about bots/cheaters anyway, even with multiple player reports, so what difference will banning HUDs make? Bots/cheaters will still be just as rampant with or without HUDs
b) True, but you have to start somewhere. Why bother having any rules in that case, may as well just be a free-for-all.

Ban HUDs, make games anonymous, remove table selection....in other words just copy everything that Phil Galfond's site is doing.

There aren't too many industries where you get to see a company deliberately choose the same model as the competitors struggling below it and ignore the model of the sector leader.

This along with one more year extension of 1M usd Party live leaderboard points, hopefully more Big Wrap PLO live Events to be introduced, and its easily my favorite site/company.

In Cash Games they did ban HUDs already and probably every good Midstakes+ Reg has one anyway.

They pay some Dollars for illegal 3rd Party Software but in return get a massive Edge on the honest Regs, who dont break TOS.

As far as i'm aware, HUD's are currently permitted on PP.

My gaming sources in the Isle of Man tell me a deal is in the works for partypoker to purchase the "Pokerstars" naming rights from Amaya & officially become Pokerstars. Pokerstars will be changing its name to remove poker (name TBD). Makes sense after recent moves by both sides.
