What does this have to with those sites doing just fine and the fact they have a place on the market. It might be a smaller one but sure.

Yes, it was a joke seemingly started by the awesome spoof news site bonuscodepoker.com with their article "partypoker Goes All In, Changes Name To pokerstars"

Quote:
In a move that virtually everyone saw coming, partypoker on Tuesday decided to make the unprecedented step of renaming the online poker room to “pokerstars.”
The announcement comes as partypoker has undergone a non-so-subtle embrace of some of PokerStars’ most beloved past qualities, of course (Obi-wan voice) before the dark times, before the Empire.
“**** it, let’s just do it,” the company stated in a press release.
The decision to change its name to pokerstars is effective immediately, with the website, poker client and pokerstars branded merchandise already tweaked to reflect the new changes. In recent years, partypoker has attempted to mimic a bygone era of PokerStars that embraced sponsored pros, handsomely compensated players and generally didn’t treat players like piles of excrement.
“In the board room, we thought [the name change] was the natural next step to achieve our goals as the poker room formerly known as partypoker enters its third decade.”

I like this idea, let's make the bot problem worse. Poker isn't fun till there's a bot on every table.

As for handhistories from anonymous sites and recording of games don't have much value... they can share in a cloud database and then make massdatabase analysis and plan strategies between a group.

Banning trackers is just makinglife of the little guy with few resources impossible to compete. But you guys keep dreaming of a world where study and technology didn't always run the knowledge of the game. It's just a bit too late I'm afraid. I even doubt that bots use any kind of hud's to make decisions, I think they use fixed strategies as can be seen by incredible statistical similarities between them.

I really hope Party isn't that stupid to do something like this.

A very solid source told me that the Russian bot ring pretty much uses a software, that cannot be detected. It cannot even be seen through teamviewer, making it easy for them to pass Stars security checks when they ask you to play and record a session in order to for you to prove your winrate.

This is why I don't play cash games on the internet any more. It's not only because of the bot rings and collusion, it is the possible other scams we don't even know about.

I'm the same - I play a ton of cash live but, next to none online anymore.

I feel there's just too many illegal tools being used that give certain players a huge edge/advantage over others and that it's far from a level playing field. I also feel that the situation is getting worse and worse in that regard.

For the record and as an online MTT player, I personally hope that PP do announce the banning of HUD's.

I also agree with what 'raidalot' posted in regards to his views/opinion on tools/HUD's and what direction we want the game to go.

I personally think that the less 3rd party software allowed in online poker the better.

People use teamview to play Pokerstars from states usually.
You don’t need a teamview to play partypoker. You just need a vpn

And yes at least 50 Americans who’s name I know as Americans who play party from vpn.

But party is ok with this because that’s how Gtds are met. And we aren’t the problem or the ones cheating. Me playing from Canada or vpn from my house in Vegas doesn’t affect you at all.

Apple, Microsoft BOTH created PCs during the time that the mainframe ruled computers. Google went with search while Yahoo! was using a directory structure. People chose VHS over (vastly superior) BetaMax. Enron was the leader in the energy sector, but many chose NOT to follow them.

how can you say that? (with a straight face)

If you're any good; then you lower his chances. If you're bad, you may wipe him out with bad play. If you time out, you slow the game down. If the site decides that players playing from the states void the tourney, and clawback wirings; he's affected.

Your comment is wishful thinking, at best. More likely deluded rationalization of your behavior.

I highly doubt PP are OK with this. I would like to see something that backs up that claim...

Banning huds is the most stupid thing sites are doing, this just make bots life better as nobody will be able to report them to the site. I would insta quit online poker if it went into that direction (I couldn't trust a site that is hiding player names and making the life easy for bots).

PD: who know what kind of shady things will happen when nobody is able to know who is who at the tables. The cure is going to be worse than the disease, clearly keeping everyone on the dark is a terrible move.

You say this, but the proof is in the pudding. Sites like Galfond's seem to be working well with their setup, so are you able to actually point to examples of sites who have banned huds but are unplayable due to bot infestation? As far as I can tell, the site with the biggest bot problem seems to be ACR and it allows HUDS. So where are your examples?

There aren't any examples. He's a just a reg who wouldn't win without a HUD and is arguing for his own self-interest.

There's no incentive for bots to run on the smaller sites like RIO, Unibet,Sky etc that don't allow huds as there are more games running on Party than the others put together. If the incentive is big enough then for certain you will get people trying to run bots and for people to circumnavigate the anti HUD measures.
Party say they don't allow bots or HUDs for cash games but there are bots and people running HUDs, and the only reason we know there are bots is because of the people using the illegal HUDs.
In an ideal world we need no HUDs and sites that have sufficient security to get rid of bots within a few hundred hands of them playing.
There prob always be HUDs for online poker now. As long as there is animated action and information displayed on a poker site, someone will be able to create a HUD. We're past the point of no return. Unless someone comes up with truly revolutionary software this will always be the case. It's better to level the playing field for everyone than to give the biggest edges to the savviest, scummiest, reward seeking few.

You can't point that because you can't track anybody in anonymous sites lol (you coudn't even tell if the sites themselves are deploying breakeven bots to create fake traffic).

At least in sites allowing huds I know who the bots are and I can react accordingly.
