This is gross, I will never play on Partypoker if the option becomes available, I will do everything I can in my more or less negligible "power" to encourage my friends family and random strangers to avoid partypoker, and because most people don't understand poker and understand the "politics" of poker in situations like these even less, i'll simply tell friends and family that Partypoker got caught cheating their players and robbing them outright, which is more or less the case in my opinion (as a winning player).

possible worst thing a poker site has ever done? wonder what else they have done that people haven't noticed yet

So you just keep creating player pools until no one is winning.

Yeh, that seems like a good plan. Pretty short sighted IMO. It is party though. I remember when they were huge and then they did nothing to improve their site(but plenty to ruin it) while pokerstars and full tilt became juggernauts and crushed them.

So...if you've been playing on Party, cash out

If you haven't, make an account and crush the fish until you get bumped up. Then cash out.

Not really. Party was crushing PS until UIGEA happened and Party left US market.

Have these changes already affected HU games, anyone noticed? Maybe they would try to force weak players open the new tables and wait for other bad players, or whatever...

How do you know where do you belong? How much are you supposed to win/lose in order to be divided within winning/losing players pool?

A disadvantage of being a publically traded company, whose purpose is to maximize shareholder value and profits....

Not even close, superusers were worse, closing up shop and running away with all the money is the worst.

Maybe this is a ploy to get a bunch of stars and full tilt players who want to play the fish tables to sign up for the site, and then they get rid of the segregation to get the winning regs to start playing again and hope that the new players they got keep playing there too.

This may not be as bad as it sounds. I think the reasoning that Party gave to justify this move is probably accurate. One thing that makes recreational players want to play is the chance of winning money. If a new recreational player sits down at a table for the first time and is playing against all professionals, they are going to lose so fast everytime. That pattern will be cemented in their head and they will not want to play again. The idea of letting them play for a little while at tables that are super soft, giving them a MUCH higher chance to win a little bit, will probably vastly increase the chance that they come back more in the future.

I want to say Party did this once before. 04-05, pre-UIGEA, they fenced off new accounts at specific tables.

no, in the grand scheme of things, this is actually worse

one rogue site doing shady things is one thing, a publically traded company that's regarded as one of the industry leaders essentially killing all profitability in poker and mutating it into a strictly recreational game in the name of saving the ecology, if this proves to be profitable and successful for the company, could completely wipe out ipoker for any non-megastakes grinder

This is correct, but if/when the word gets out that Party penalizes you when you do win, recreational players will think that they have no chance to win and that the site is just out to screw them...

Perhaps this will still be OK with casino-type gamblers who don't care about winning, but for any aspiring poker players it's gonna be a huge negative.

Juk

Anyone know if this has an effect on the HU lobby?

Also that answer completely skirted the issue: "This includes, but is not limited to, our welcome lounge"

So still no information, really. What about people grinding 1/2 and 2/4 for a living on party? Maybe they're at the highest tier VIP and are now essentially ****ed. No notice, not even the courtesy to inform players.

Handled appallingly

Bwin used to be on OnGame so it wouldn't surprise me if the same geniuses behind the Essence system are responsible for this mess.

This isn't unique or the first site to do it. Everleaf last year implemented similar restrictions on which tables you could sit at based on your rating

There were beginner tables for new accounts, but it had nothing to do with winrates. Any new account could play on those tables for like a couple of weeks or something like that.
