If there was any doubt remaining that the cat made it, in the interests of Science I just tried to put just my cat's front paws on the kitchen counter which is a similar surface to the one in the photo and not one he can dig his claws into and he was able to scramble up easily, having no trouble at all supporting his weight on just his front legs. Then I put him on the floor with some food up there and he jumped up immediately without breaking sweat.
