Yesterday, Jaime Staples reported via Twitter that two of his "Ultimate Sweat" videos had been removed by YouTube.

Jaime stated that the removals were part of YouTube's policy related to linking to gambling sites.



Andrew Neeme also reported having one of his YouTube videos removed yesterday. But so far, it's only one video, so that might be an isolated event?



So far today, the running count is a total of 134 videos uploaded by Jaime Staples that have been removed by YouTube. He has been posting updates on the removals throughout the day via Twitter.



Jaime also reports that PokerStars' "Vloggers in Paradise" videos are also being taken down.

Jaime tends to be a bit dramatic, has he removed the affiliate links etc in the video descriptions and resubmitted them for review?

They do the same thing to gun related videos. For a time, some of the content providers were using Porntube, no lie.

Andrew Neeme says that only one video of his has been removed by YouTube up to this point, and that the video was "heavily PokerStars related."



Jaime says that this is also affecting other poker personalities...



...and has informed those who applied for video editor positions that he is putting the process on hold until there is more clarity on the issue.



Also, here's a Tweet from Jaime stating that 27 vlog videos of his (the ones on the "Jaime Staples" YT channel, not "PokerStaples") weren't related to online poker. The 100+ videos being referenced in the thread title refer to both channels.

And now 7 more which were all pokerstars tournament HH reviews.

Not sure what it's all about exactly but I too have e-mailed support and am hoping for some kind of resolution. Pretty scary to have 10+ years of work being threatened to have taken away

another ****ty policy by a company that they can't properly enforce based on complaints from (most likely) advertisers who also don't understand the platform or what they are requesting by having no gambling talk on site that they are advertising on.


Pretty sure there are like literally billions of GB of video added to youtube per day , 0% chance they can filter out and censor all of one topic theyll just hit and annoy the big channels while a ton of small-medium coast by (and the big ones will likely only have half of their content hit etc etc)

EDIT: In case the text within the image is too small for some to read, the reason being given by YouTube for the 1 warning and 4 strikes is "YouTube's policy on harmful or dangerous content." All 4 video "strikes" are related to PokerStars online tournament reviews. The "warning" is for a video about the PokerStars VIP Club changes, and how to get the most out of the (now non-existent) Club Points/VPPs that were axed by Amaya/TSG on January 1, 2016.

I watch a pretty broad range of youtube content and its really sad to see how they censor some of these niche communities

whenever YT has a new policy, they clean up more than planned. always a lot of false positive casualties ... i wonder if the ban hammer hit those skin and loot box gambling channels as well?

of course some self righteous silicon valley dickheads think that they know whats best for other people , although im guessing it has more to do with getting sued

They should censor nothing. The proper response is to refute any notions you deem bogus. A totalitarian response never works in the long run. If you see something you disagree with or offends you...just watch something else. In the case of Staples, it's absurd that they would purge him or any other poker vlogger.

Youtube has been a ****show for many other branches and creators
They skew results to promote big companies and are moving towards paid streaming services + towards pleasing big advertisers and corporations over users.

Poker is 18+ and in gambling industry wouldn't surprise me if they outright ban poker content altogether eventually.


Back to pokertube like in the stone ages I suppose?

Why didn't it affect Negreanu yet, didn't he promote some tournament selling action on youtube and pokerstars in general?

I wonder what will be his reply... well we live in a free market, if you don't like youtube post your videos elsewhere... Problem is youtube, like pokerstars, are defacto monopolies.

RIO lost quite a few recent videos. stuff like Top 5 splash pots ... but i never watched them, so not sure if it was links, or the 'general content', that was the issue.

Lex posts quite a few highlights from twitch, but it seems most, if not all, is still up. stuff like LatB or Upswing/RYE doesn't seem to be affected at all, so "gambling" is not the problem, but promotional stuff.

Re: DNegs an PN ... even PN is an affiliate, i can't recall that PN ever promoted stuff on YT in a way Stapes and others do. they mainly report about regulated gaming in casinos (i know, online poker is regulated too, but for YT - or the companies, that buy adds on YT -it's a big difference).

i think DNegs only promotional videos were about the PSPC ... and this wasn't 'hey sign up and gamble', but 'sent me a video'. most of his channel contains of his vlog stuff, so not sure why he would be affected.
