Nice work, very polished in the acting and editing, when does part 4 come out?

so as you may know, film production is a very expensive endeavor. while i made a bunch of money back in the day, i can't exactly afford to produce an entire season of this quality on my own. i did fund the pilot episode (originally for a regular half hour comedy split into 3 parts) myself.

my goal was to make the pilot and hopefully find someone who believed in my vision to shepherd it through with a production company or a studio. in order to do that at this point, we're trying to leverage whatever coverage we have into trying to get more awareness and additional buzz around the project. with enough views and likes, we can start a conversation into possibly building this out into a season.

while my plans for the first season do involve poker and a possible vegas episode, much of it will probably be entertainment industry based, but also with a dash of post college 30 year old crisis life lessons.

so please if you do like it and want to see more, share and like the page and videos and subscribe and all that good jazz. thanks!

Great!

And while I'm commenting, I might as well send out what I've been sending out to friends as far as how to help:

Because FB Watch is new and there's a lot of confusion, a lot of people have been confused as to how they can support. So I've laid out the steps here:

1. If you haven't already, like the page, and like the episode videos. The main page is on www.facebook.com/justdougseries

2. Share the page, but mostly share this specific post: https://www.facebook.com/JustDougSer...0571754198799/
The reason for this is that we want to get all our likes and comments concentrated in one video, so that it has a better chance of organically hitting certain algorithms that will beget more sharing/likes/virality. You can share by clicking on the Share icon where the Like button is.

3. When you share, please share with text saying something like "Congratulations on Douglas Kim (tagging) on getting onto the Today's Spotlight section on FB Watch". This will grab more attention and convince people that "it's a thing". I've included what it would look like in a picture below.

4. Tell others that would support to do the same! Many times, people want to support but simply don't know what specifically to do. Just tell them to follow these instructions and they're good to go!

Frankly speaking, when I first saw the first saw the thread I thought that your project was not going to be interesting or would have been made poorly(the quality of the actors's play, the script and so on). However, after watching the first two episodes,I can say I am kind of hooked in Doug. The script is super cool-an asian dude who wants to become an actor in Hollywood, the actors are playing great.
I have a few questions for you and if you have time,it would be cool of yours if you could answer them:
1-Are you the only one on the set who is not a professional actor?
2-How many days did it take to make one episode?
3-Which is harder in your opinion-to become a poker pro starting from scratch or to become an actor the same way?
Good luck with your endeavours

1. being a professional actor is like calling yourself a professional poker player. you can draw your own conclusions from that

2. we shot for 6 days for the entire episode (the format was originally intended for half hour comedy, not three parts), but pre production and post production spanned around 6 months or so, not to mention the writing of the pilot took the better part of a year.

3. in today's environment it depends on what your goals are. they're both difficult pursuits but i would say that poker still has an edge that if you're talented and willing to really work hard you can still make a ton of money. however in entertainment, success isn't really guaranteed, and you're kind of at the mercy of whatever projects are casting to find a role right for you (which is why it's even worse for Asian Americans who have nothing written for them at all)

Very good show. I feel bad there is only 1 episode. Compared to the average quality of a sitcom these days (or any days), I really enjoyed it. Want to see what happens with the chick who isn't doug's type and doug.

this wasn't up to us, we had to censor it like this for the FB platform . however you can catch the fully uncensored version on the show page itself!

How am I doing after all that time? I decided to use that life changing money and change my life by pursuing a career in entertainment (a 2p2 poster actually posted in my 2006 main event run thread suggestion I pursue an acting career, so here's your vision realized!) rather than continuing on with a consulting career that I was unhappy with.

Unfortunately my journey hasn't been all that smooth sailing, despite having a decent amount of cash in tow. However, I've made a show about my experiences (which also features my 2006 run in the beginning scenes!)

We were just featured on the Today's Spotlight section of Facebook's new platform for video, Facebook Watch. (no, it's not a wearable like Apple's) You can find us on that section on their main page at www.facebook.com/watch or go directly to my show page at www.facebook.com/justdougseries .

If the show gets picked up, amongst going in depth about the industry as a whole, I do plan on going into the poker subculture and exploring that world (how it was back then and how it was now). I also think it's a damn good show, if I do say so myself.

So please help me make this show a reality by liking, subscribing and sharing!

Who knew that poker Doug's just go onto becoming TV personalities?

Hope you enjoy! Feel free to let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Doug
Enjoy the show man. I think your acting is great and I hope you crush out there and represent the Doug name with pride!!

Ill talk about your show on my youtube channel at some point and hopefully can get some people over to check it out. Follow your dreams and good luck!

Great production. I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the story of an Asian actor isn't the most unique concept (lots of youtube stars have done it). Besides that, great acting and production. I'll share as much as I can.

thanks man! #douglyfe

if you do do a shout out...don't do a poker hands with any of my world series of poker 2006 hands...my play was cringe worthy back then.

would also love to let you know that i knew you back in the old days on pokerstars grinding MSNL, was happy to see you rose up from your struggles back in the day!

Hey Doug, first 3 episodes were decent stuff. Your blowup scene in particular was pretty funny. I'm rooting for your show to get picked up somewhere down the line.

I'm curious, how did you receive your WSOP payout? Bank transfer/wire, check, chips, cash? I've read about players accepting huge tournament scores in cash and that sounds crazy to me, but maybe they somehow didn't have other options.

I hope he doesn't try dating her again. She already told him she wasn't interested at the end of their first date. The only thing that's changed since then is that he's now more well-known. Meh.
