It's dead because site owners are too greedy/stupid and customers are too PC to demand changes.

The online poker situation is this: A bunch of poor people living in poor countries are doing whatever is takes (cheating, stealing etc) to defraud poker players living in rich countries. It's not a coincidence that most of the bot rings, collusion rings, gto software etc etc all originate from very specific countries.

When you realize that making ~30k/yr in whatever bum**** eastern euro country is like making 6 figures in a first world country... then it's no surprise that every single stake is flooded with those people and cheating is rampant. Coincidently or not, poker has tanked because it's not fun being cheated out of your money and hunted. The fish basically got tired of supporting Eastern Euro families and rightly so.

Online poker is at an all time low, yet if you look at bovada which has done things the right way, the games are the still great from midstakes all the way down.

I believe the opinion is that the relative speed is now a disadvantage.

That is not the same as saying it was an advantage back in 2005, or the reason for its popularity. Just that it was not a disadvantage.

Regulation and so called anti-money laundering practices have killed poker too. During the boom, you could throw a few dollars on a poker site with any credit card or a multitude of different payment processors. Nowadays options are very limited for people depositing from certain countries.

Another thing is withdrawals are a pain in the ass. If you want fun players to play online you have to make it easy to get funds on and off the site. If you make a fun player jump through multiple hoops and delay his withdrawal you are effectively chasing him away from the site. If somebody can deposit but can't withdraw they will feel cheated. People who play every day are willing to jump through those hoops but many rec. players are not.

Now we have crypto poker sites, which should be the answer to heavy fiat regulation, but they aren't. There is more red tape to set up a CoinPoker account than a regular poker account ffs.

The USA trying to control the whole fkn internet because the puppet masters cannot get their hands on some of the profit. How has Vegas not come up with a plan to implement legal online poker throughout all the US? The day that online poker is legal and deemed safe for every guy to play after a long ass day at work or with the wife will result in the good old days again.

They were listening to the wrong folks from DC and Caesars and opted for pursuing an untenable"Federal Solution" in an effort to grab the whole market for themselves in one swoop, while fighting off Stars, the tribes, the lotteries, the racetracks as well as anyone with actual experience in he industry.
