I've never heard of a site that stop offering their services to a certain country and won't let players from that country make a withdrawal.

Probably best to keep your BR on bigger sites however if you are nervous, as they would never deny you to make a withdrawal.

Could you share the link of those articles? I was barely able to find any information on norwegian sites.

There is no "full ban" coming into effect, and headlines suggesting so are miss-stating the situation. Online poker is basically as "banned" as it can get in Norway. But offshore operators will continue in the country, and have legal justification for doing so. Six months ago there was efforts to block payment processing, which managed to get some to stop processing payments, but it was basically business as usual for operators, who are pretty adept and changing up payment processing.

The latest talk is increased enforcement powers, including DNS popup 'warnings' before visiting a website of an operator. If it goes through, it will be one more rather light-weight enforcement mechanism that Norway has on clamping down on its (arguably illegal) gambling monopoly. Operators aren't really flinching.

Thanks Hood. So you don't foresee there being any issue to play from Norway any time soon for people that already have money online?

Correct, I do not. If I were a player in Norway, I would still have money online and not be too bothered. There latest proposals are a way off being implemented, and if/when they are, in their current form, as I understand it, it will just prompt warnings when visiting domains of websites. Nothing else.

I'd probably only keep my money on the most reputable sites, like PokerStars, Unibet, party, 888, Betsson. Then, if these sites do decide to withdrawal from your market, they should do in a organized, orderly way, and you should have no issue or delay getting your money back.

With that said, Longer term, it does suck - if seems like your country is not moving towards a liberal system in other scandi countries, like what Sweden is moving towards, or what is implemented in Denmark. Rather, they are moving towards prohibition. It is likely a futile effort by your Government, but it may get tougher to play online in the future.

Works well as usual. Although withdrawing from party a couple of months ago took arguing with party support, lol..

if you arent playing MTTs to luck box a big one, theres no point in playing online poker. people without HUDs aka live are 10x more profitable, even if it takes 2 hours to see 10 hands. lol

I never saw someone go full tilt mode because of lotto but it is very dangerous in poker and when that happens other people use their tilt to get their money instead of helping them.

Governments look at statistics. If they see that many people die when not having seatbelts then they will make mandatory by law to have a seatbelt on. If they see that many people die by using heroin or ruining their families with gambling they will try to reduce the effect of that. Total prohibition is not good but selective bans are ok.

I agree that poker should be banned. Many smart people just make a living by taking other people's money without contributing to society instead of using their brain to contribute to society by doing some engineering, art, software development etc.
You agree that poker should be banned?!?!?! FYI I'm in profit at poker, I enjoy playing it, however I have not made anywhere near enough to consider quitting my job. I work full time, pay tax and contribute.

Why are you on this forum if you dislike poker so much?

A lot of these state run monopolies use the income from gambling etc. for good and frankly I don't see a problem with that. Let them have their monopoly but just ensure that hospitals and schools get the money.

Online poker is not banned in Norway, the headline is misleading.

Sports gambling and poker are supported by most casino rooms, regarding payment Skrill or Neteller is always recommended but you can also use a third party to deposit with a visa card on some sites.
The most popular poker rooms are Pokerstars, Party, 888 , Unibet and Betsson.
