Aria pays Phil money for representing their brand. Said money supports Phil and his family. Why shouldn't he thank them? Of all the things Olivier can ***** about he chooses this? Pretty funny in my opinion.

What tilts me most about this situation is not that he is upset about PH thanking a sponsor, but that he is aggressive and douchey towards anyone who doesn't agree with him. He comes off like a really big ass-hat.

And for the record, PH was completely ok to thank a sponsor. Not even a question. I almost feel like PH would come off worse if he didn't thank his sponsor when a mic moment presents itself after a win.

Politics, abortion and religion are some of the topics best left out of poker discussions. Oliver's political views may be shared by some, not me. by wearing that shirt, I lost respect for him. Why, because I don't share his opinion on that. I still think he's a great poker player. Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods avoided comments on politics, and I'm sure their agents advised them to.

Oliver is probably a world class poker player. does he have any sponsors? if not, he might google his name the way a sponsor would before signing him. When a sponsor see's his tee shirt choices, or twitter jabber, it's not going to help. He probably wins enough from poker that he doesn't care though.

100% agree that phil should plug his sponsor. I'll never get a sponsor because I suck at poker.

What strikes me about Oliver is that he's a world-class thinker and commentator about the game but that he's unable to apply his abilities while actually playing. It might be the pressure of the moment, emotional IQ, etc... Being a thoughtful person I imagine Oliver knows this all too well and it tilts him to see players of lesser ability consistently perform much better than him, thus he lashes out at those players any chance he gets.

Thanking sponsors on your acceptance speech can only benefit the game.
But wearing political shirt on televised final table can only bring harm to the game.

He says its "inappropriate and disrespectful" to thank sponsors after a tourney win, but has no issue when MrGreen walks away from an interview after winning the biggest tourney ever,,,not to mention the whole free palestine farce. Seems he is more concerned about his personal interests, than poker.

If you consider he thought there was no need for Colman to thank Ceasars or ESPN for putting on the One Drop, then it figures he couldnt understand how anyone would want to thank another casino. The PR firm of Busquet and Colman sure know how to make people totally unlikeable to the public.

Let's be honest with ourselves. Olivier makes millions of dollars at the poker tables. The majority of people playing poker are losing players. There's more people losing money that probably shouldn't be risking it. Not everyone are hobbyist with 6 figure incomes. Funnel vision.
