Can confirm he is incredibly nice in person. Watched him raise to 5,025 at Turningstone 3-4 years ago at 100/200 in a tourney and sit stone faced for like 5 minutes while various people tanked. It was even better because the whole table was trying not to laugh during the time. He handled it very well afterwards as well.

It means a lot that people have responded so positively and I genuinely appreciate all the support I've received. I plan on doing more commentating if I get more opportunities.

I've gotten a lot of emails to my website about coaching but I've never felt comfortable charging people to teach them and I don't have any plans at the moment to do any coaching. I do have plans though, when online poker comes back to the US, to pair up with a site and have a competition, the winner of which I will mentor - for free....I'm also glad people liked my blog about going to school, I think it's really important for young people to consider that option seriously.

Thanks again.

Olivier
Who needs coaching anymore after listening to you on the wsop? Aside from Hellmuth, that is.

Great idea about the mentoring tourney, I'm in for that.

I'm pretty sure you'll be getting loads more commentating gigs, personally I'd love to see you team up with James May.

Glad you've been up on this thread Liv, you definitely deserve the kudos coming your way.
You explain the game in such great detail but in a very unique way that makes sense to those not nearly as intelligent as yourself. It's a fine line trying to explain complex thought in a way that's not condescending or arrogant and somehow you manage to pull it off every time. The way you handle bad beats and your demeanor at the table speaks volumes about the class act that you are. Good luck (not that you need luck) in the future and hope that includes a lot of TV time at the tables and especially in the booth.

I really enjoyed your commentary during the WSOP Olivier! I always felt like I should be taking notes lol.

Please do more commentary / media stuff in the future, thanks!

First of all, I want to say that I've always been a huge fan of Busquet.

So I caught Busquet playing 1/3 NL with his GF at Bellagio, hanging out with friends and family. The condescension and cocky attitude in Busquet's tone was disappointing. Then he would go in for a kiss from his GF then look up with a sly smile that was clearly meant to say, "She's with me, guys. You can all suck it!"

But the ultimate letdown was when my friend and I went to Busquet and asked him for taking a quick picture with us. Busquet looked at me with an annoyed/disgusted look on his face. "Okay, let me finish this hand first." Then he continued conversing with Barry Greenstein for another 10 minutes while me and my friend stood there like idiots waiting. Then he walked off and left without even acknowledging me or my friend.

At this point, I don't even care about the picture. But he serves as a poker representative/ambassador by appearing on the 2+2 PokerCast. I would have accepted even polite dismissal so that I wouldn't lose my faith for him.

Oh well, just my thoughts. Kind of turned off from poker in general now..

He did took a picture withs some guys wife tho:/
Pls ban this guy. He made the exact same post in the Jared Huggins thread and only switched the names from Jared to Olivier:

90% sure he is cuckolding.

But sick graph. No denying that.
I don't think you have a firm grasp of the meaning of "cuckold."

I have tons of respect for Oliver as a poker player. I was impressed with Oliver's commentary, not awkward and informative. I think he should be a full time commentator.

this guy is such a douche in chat. The things he has told primo...are ridicolous. I feel like he is a douchebag. but yes his commentary and poker prowess are unmatched. as is his ability to insult people in chat, which seems like a far better indicator of ones true colors.

props for crushing husngs. too bad Ive seen the darkside.

I for one, am not a fanboy

Are you kidding? His tiltchat is even better than his ESPN commentary.

Completely agree. Great commentary. Informative, accessible, and coming from a very likable person.

Not sure if Olivier reads anything here, but if so, thanks for making the broadcast so much better.

I've watched him play thousands of hands during HU SNG's on FTP, and have chatted with him myself a few times.

You are completely wrong.

Best commentary I've ever seen on any poker show, bar none.

Olivier, great job, and I *realllly* hope you get a lot more opportunities to provide commentary in the future.

I can only imagine how good HSP would be if they showed Norm Macdonald the door and paired you up with a decent colour commentator..... can somebody pleeeeease make this happen?

Edit: Embarassing confession - when I first saw the livb graph thread a couple years ago, I had no idea who Olivier was, and auto assumed from the screen name that it was Liv Boeree. I remember staring at the graph incredulously and just saying to myself "no ****ing way".

I had the pleasure to play and chat briefly with Olivier in a 3 handed 20/40 NL game at the Aria. I coolered him in a 10k pot for stacks with T9 vs 88 on QJ8A and he handled it well but decided to pack it in for the night shortly after. Thanks for leaving me alone to play the Chinese business guy hu for hours before a drunk guy joined the game around 5 am!

I'll probably be subletting in NYC this autumn and I hope we can grab dinner when I'm out there. Take care.

Wow I must have been watching something else cause I didn't find his commentary to be anything special. Lots of saying he wouldn't have done bluffs after they failed and how great bluffs were after they worked.

edit: wow didn't know he was livb, guess he is better than I gave him credit for. I still didn't think what I heard of his commentary was all that insightful though.
