Hi there awesome members of 2p2. I hope this request qualifies into this sub-forum. This blog post / article I'm searching for is very dear to me as it has a life view which I adapted very much so. After it is found it would be very useful for the community of 2p2 to read it too I think. Every help would be highly appreciated.

I want to share now this article and re-read it but I cannot find it anymore.

Here are some details on it (some of them are quite random. sry about that):
- I read it 5-7 years ago.
- It was about luck and unluckiness in real life.
- The writer made points using real-life examples which traditionally are considered unlucky but logically looking at them they are not
- Sort of the logical and critical thought process of poker was applied to real life situations
- The topic of accidents were covered in the blogpost too. Regarding that topic it was stated that accidents are the closest thing to unluckiness and even there you have to ask yourself whether or not you have done everything in your power to prevent the accident from happening? did you use your seatbelt?
- The general message of the article was, that unluckiness is many times unreal if we look at it logically.
- The post wasnt made on twoplustwo. It was made on some other website as far as I remember.
- As far as I remember the website's theme was mainly white and red. maybe some green in the logo too. Maybe the text of the logo was green and the background of the logo/upper part of the website was red. The background color of the website was white or some bright color close to white

If you happen to remember this please let me know. It would help me tremendously because that post was highly influential on my life and I would like to revisit it and share it with the people close to me.

Thank you for your help and have a great day,
RTT314

Did the post specifically talk about poker or poker thinking and applying it to real life situations or was that just the connection you made? Trying to find a blogpost from 5-7 years ago that talks about luck is going to be difficult especially if it wasn't poker specific. If it was on an old Word Press site and not a major periodical, there is also a good chance it's gone.

This sounds like something that Mike Caro would have written.

Haha wow thank you all for your replies. Thats why I love this community. Because you all reach out and try to help.

Sadly its not the one you linked RIO, but its so close to my description. Its actually quite fascinating that another post exists which fits so much the description.

Sadly its not Mike Caro either.

The post was mainly about the implementation of proactive views in real life scenarios where having proactive views actually make a difference. Eliminating the luck factor in ones belief system yielded a more of a proactive approach and mainly thats why it was tackled in such profound depths.

Please if anyone else happens to find it let me know.

This sounds like something that the author Malcolm Gladwell might have written about. Maybe try there.

Or, posibbly, "Outliers, opportunity and luck", by Lane Kenworthy?

I was thinking it might have been a pocketfives thread, blog, or article, as that matches the color scheme. Maybe cross post over there. Another option is that, assuming you have a google account, I think you can go look through and search your search history if you never deleted it and maybe that would help ring some bells: https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity

Even if it’s not what you were looking for it does make an interesting read.

Alas, I haven't managed to find the article in question, but I'd like to remind you about your colleague Christy 'preachercasy151' Keenan, who, as a psychologist, had insightful takes on cognitive biases as applied to poker.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sadly it was none of the above. Still I appreciate it really much. Haha **** yeah... Casy is very insightful overall. Especially in psychology.

For an interesting twist on this topic you should read a couple of books by Nassim Talib. The Black Swan and Fooled by Randomness both have poker references.

Can't help in your search, but I did LOL at "Old Time Players" equaling 5-7 years ago. (I figured Old Time Players would be like 20+ years ago haha).

Anyone who was an online poker reg before the advent of 3-max jackpot SNGs qualifies as an old-timer imo. (I'm singling jackpots out because they disrupted the STT ecosystem to our detriment )
