Re: ***OFFICIAL WSOP SWEAT THREAD***

What is the deal with having a "6max" final table play 7 handed?

Going to the FT at 10 in a 9 handed tournament is tilting enough, but this is a new level of stupid.

Does anybody know if they will be putting up a commentary on this when it hits the actual final table? Or is it just a case of waiting and seeing?

Pretty sure its dumber when the tournament is explicitly referred to as 6 MAX and you have 7 players at the final table.

no the jacob is right. putting a 7th player in a 6 max game alters the way the game is played pretty dramatically where the 10th player is just a minor difference in comparision. imagine if the played a heads up tourny and decided that the final table would start three handed.

So that they don't have one table playing 3 handed and one table 4 handed..
Blinds come around much faster, some peoples edge probably increases quite a bit from 4 to 3 as opposed to playing 6 handed to 5.

Keep in mind i have no idea what im talking about

Is the Bart Hanson in the O8B event the same one that used to host on Pokerroad?

Sorry for the dumb question. I've been out of the poker "world" for a few years.

Event 23: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em - Six-Handed

Andrew Lichtenberger Eliminated in 8th Place ($49,124)

ndrew Lichtenberger started the action out from the button by raising to 33,000. Simon Charette folded the small blind and Atem Metalidi three-bet to 105,000. Lichtenberger then took his time before throwing out a handful of green chips for a four-bet to 215,000. Atem Metalidi then took off his sunglasses and five-bet to 430,000. Lichtenberger's response was to move all in for about 700,000. Metalidi made the call and cards were tabled.

Luckychewy:
Metalidi:

Lichtenberger was in great shape, and looked to double up and become one of the top remaining contenders. A flop was exposed and Metalidi hit the world. Running kings were the only thing that could save the down on his luck Lichtenberger. A on the turn and a on the river sent Lichtenberger on his way.

This is part of 6 max tournaments. Makes a hell of a lot more sense to play 3 and 4 handed in a shorthanded tournament than to play 7 handed.

I don't think adding the 10th player is marginal either its just I know that is just how they do it in lollivetournaments for some reason.

The difference is a 7 handed table isn't 6max. It isn't even "shorthanded" if that is how they refer to it.

One table of 7>>>>>one table of 3 and one of 4. Much fairer.

Meanwhile, Ivey getting his runaway train on in the O8.

all "final tables" I have watched have had commentary so I would assume so. Then Again all but 1 unofficial FT have had commentary so I dont really know whats going on tonight.

BTW does anyone think, as I do, that the WSOP site would benefit from a rep here. In fact thinking about it I cant believe there is not one.

I guess that is true, just seems like 7 handed is less of a difference then 3 handed.

Probably a slight bias with Elky on my fantasy team
