pet peeve ---- Lon (sp?) using the word "Raise" when Holden made a bet after being checked to.
i also don't understand why Lon still explains things like the big blind, triple barrel, etc. do football or soccer or golf announcers do this with terms relative to their game?
Not for the most basic things like big blind (which I would compare to say, a football announcer defining what a Left Guard is), but a vast majority of "analysis" in those sports is things the most basic person could figure out - like, for example, you'll often see "analysis" in football like "Quarterback A does very well when he's given a lot of time to pass so one of the keys for Team B will be if they can get a good pass rush to limit how often Quarterback A has to throw" or "Team B likes to blitz a lot, so a big thing for Team A will be if their offensive lineman can pick up the blitz to protect their QB".
It's pretty amazing how the vast majority of the pre-game "analysis" in major sports is just "A does this, so B needs to stop A from doing it", and post-game "analysis" is "A was able to do this better than B was able to stop them from doing it".
