Lol, apparently a lightning bolt destroyed comcast last night.

Not only was did my internet go out right after your post but my neighbor's alternates in the neighborhood.

So in addition to losing the fairly verbose thing I typed up, I also missed watching the bubble break. Goddammmit I hate comcast.

Sigh.

Anyhow, I don't like how it staggers the flow of the tournament so much. There's no reason the final table bubble should be more dramatic than seeing who wins the bracelet. Plus, with the added monetary bonuses for N9ers it throws off the game mathematically and psychologically.

Also the heartbreak of the guy/gal that goes out 10th is unnecessary torture.

1. Hewitt is only good here against the very, very bottom of Giannetti's range.
AND ... I might add that I don't think Giannetti is the type of player to ship A-rag from UTG when he still has some life (barely).

2. So almost always Hewitt is flipping or way behind if he calls.

3. Hewitt had been trying to fold his way to the N9 for hours, I mean if you're going to nit it up, then nit it up, don't fold for hours and then all of a sudden start calling off with ATo and KQo against shoves from very tight players.

4. Then, if at the end of the day, you want to move past all of that and look at it from a pure math stand point, his stack was 15M and the short stack was 5M, it was a bad ICM play. If Hewitt just folds the AT he would be in the N9 and either Giannetti or the Belize guy would have eventually been taken out.

Everyone will remember the KQ hand, which was obviously the worst of the worst, but usually there's a turning point before the meltdown.
For Hewitt I think it was with the AT.
+1

This is so true....Calling with A-T was pretty bad. Couple that with his KQ call and the player who made the worst decisions bubbled the November 9. One of the rare times the "right" player was eliminated.

This being said, I thought he played well up until we were 10-handed

What I found bizarre about all this was that I'd just begun watching the live feed with Hellmuth and Esfandiari prattling on as to how tightly Hewitt was playing, when he promptly makes the two hero calls.

While, so far as I could tell from the reports, there had been a fair amount of aggression, it's hard to see anyone capable of making it this far getting in there with A-rag. This makes Hewitt's call even further beyond the pale.

Maybe he'll draw a lesson from all this.

Does anyone believe these calls were worse than Billy Kopp's call against Darvin Moon in the 2009 ME?
