As for the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year, Ben Lamb has taken over the lead from Phil Hellmuth, who has 710.25 points. Ben Lamb had 659.05 points coming into the main event but has already gained 75 more points from finishing in the top 20% of the money group and now has 724.05 points.
The only other player remaining who could pass Hellmuth for 2011 WSOP Player of the Year (but only if he wins the main event) is David Bach (279.75 points). However, Bach would not pass Lamb, even if he won, if Lamb were to finish 7th or better. Back is currently 42nd in chips, while Lamb is 2nd.
