Just now watching an old Poker After Dark episode on NBC Sports network and the final 4 players left are Lederer, Gabe Kaplan, Mark Gregorich and Joe Sebok.

I know he is Barry Greenstein's son and was pretty famous in the poker world for a few years. Did he just quit poker and move on to another career or does he still play? Have not heard his name mentioned in a few years now. He mentioned on PAD that he has a radio show, or at least used to.

Just curious if anyone knows. Thx

Edit: as for the radio show, you're probably thinking of PokerRoad Radio. He had a site containing multimedia stuff, mostly podcasts with some video and a few blogs. Fun while it lasted, but it just became unsustainable.

Sometimes they don't merge the threads depending on who the person is. Since Sebok is Greenstein's son I figured maybe this could have it's own thread.

All news to me. I lost touch with him after PokerRoad effectively closed its doors.

Interesting, thanks for that. Seems like he really is out of poker permanently. Usually these guys leave for a little but will come back occasionally and play certain tournaments. I guess he has no interest anymore.

I remember that guy Paul Phillips left poker all of a sudden in like 2005 or 2006 and I don't think has ever played a tournament since either. Kinda rare.

Reason there was he was already rich prior to poker, so when he decided to persue a new hobby, he could.

If I recall correctly, he tried to get into professional Scrabble. After that, who knows?

Yeah he can persue other things but it's pretty weird that he wouldn't show up for the main event once in awhile, especially when he has $$

paul phillips was never a professional poker player as such. he was a rich dude who liked playing games. he is now hugely into scala fwiw.

i don't really think it's that weird that someone with a family would elect to NOT go play in a 8000 player one week tournament in the amazon room.

Does anyone remember Jackpot Jay Lovinger? Used to read his column on ESPN's Page 2 back in the early 2000's. Some of that material is still accessible - kind of a time capsule to the early days of the poker boom. His main event recap - and other columns - are both funny and painful to look back on; mass limping, raising for information, references to poker pro's who dropped off the map, etc.

One of the articles had recited these guidelines for online poker from a mailbag:
"(1) A-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, A-K, A-Q suited only!!! Believe me, you will still get sufficient action. If not, change tables.

(2) Thou shall not bluff.

(3) Do not slowplay!

(4) After the flop, do not play without top pair (or better), a flush draw, or a straight draw to the nuts.

(5) Getting raised on the turn/river demonstrates a huge hand. Folding is often correct.

(6) Just because you raised before the flop doesn't mean you need to continue to raise after it.

(7) Do not check-raise for effect. No one gives the check-raise the respect it deserves.

(8) Do not call with just overcards.

(9) Consider playing two games at once. Say you want to play $20-40 limit. Two $10-20 games are easier to beat, and that also helps with the variance.

(10) Always take advantage of the bonuses."

No idea what happened but he was the toughest guy I played in 2005 or so. super sick pro. I bought a party database of his years ago for god knows how much, his results were so ****ing sick
