We know that the rake in relation to winnings ranges from 70% at micros to 50% at the mid stakes.

Does anyone know the ratio for tournaments?

I'd like to understand how much money is taken out of the economy by sites vs players.

I would guess that the rake at tournaments is way lower than at cash games.

We do know that the %-age of winners is roughly the same. Still I find tournaments way easier to beat.

I can't imagine that I am a better tourney player than cash, so I am guessing it must be the rake?

My guess ist that the real difference between cash and mtt's is the rakedifference in stakes.

if you play $215 rather than $5.50 MTT's doesnt really matter rakewise.

but it really does matter if you play 2000NL instead of 50NL.

Yes, I think so too. And the fact that at cash games on the smaller stakes the rake is very very high.

I was just watching the 100k high roller on pokerstars.tv and they had Ivey and DN at the same table. It made me wonder if its against tournament rules to play props? Just even like flop red or black..I ve never seen anyone play props in a tournament.

I'm not up to date on the technical legal matters...basically all I know is in spring 2011 (or was it 2010?), Full Tilt and Pokerstars were shutdown due to a possibility of insolvency among the companies and a possible fraudulent scheme. Then, Full Tilt reopened recently but US players can only play for play money.

That's literally all I know. Will Full Tilt become available to US players in the future? If so...

1. When?
2. What are the chances it'll happen.
3. Is there a chance that online poker for real money will remain banned in the US for the rest of my lifetime (~60 years if I'm lucky).

Although most TV announcers pronounce it as "Ellie," I've heard a least a couple of players, such as Matusow and Durr, call him "E-lye."

Does anyone know which one is more likely to be correct (or preferred by Elezra)?

He was born Eliahu Ilan Elezra.
Eliahu is the Hebrew. Pronounced ahLAYAAHHuw.
(it means: my God is Yahweh)

The English form of Eliahu is Elijah.
Elijah is pronounced as ihLAYJHah

I've heard Elijah pronounced E-lye-juh or ILL-Lye-juh all my life, but it's probably in error.
However, ih-LAY just doesn't sound right..

you will also have to deposit money first and then sit on an omaha table.

you will need a minimum of [1] opponent to start a hand

this is a big noob question but when you look up a poker player and they talk about total live tournament winnings and earnings in online games do they take into account the loses the poker player makes over his career life time? Also how much do pros make from sponsorships from pokerstars and full tilt poker?

For live tournaments, no, losses are not taken into account. For online cash game winnings on one site, yes, losses are taken into account. However losses on other sites are not.

For sponsorships how much they earn from the sites varies a lot depending upon the player and the site. Daniel Negreanu likely makes several million dollars a year from Stars. Some guys on Full Tilt, on the other hand, had little more than 100% rakeback.

In general, like another poster said, most people probably make a lot less than you think and some of the guys you think are big winners are actually losers. But a few do make a lot of money.

The proper question is how much they lose and the answer to that is enough so that Casinos will take care of them.

thanks for the reply surely those who are "big winners and are actually losers" would have stopped playing poker? who do you see as an example of that theory?
