What the heck, Wikipedia has Phil Laak's age as 47 and birth year 1964 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Laak. He was actually born on sept 8 1972 and is 39. Can someone who knows how change that please? It's a bit tilting (and the age diff between him and Tilly is less amusing ;-) ).
Some of the best poker players in the world play each other for huge sums of money on television? What's in it for them to risk such money on presumably small edges?
Must be a **** load of $$ from promotions than, I seen a 3-way game of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Patrick Antonious, and they were sitting with $1 million, insane to take on that much variance with such a large sum of cash
Guy has been crushing HST PLO recently. Is currently playing a huge marathon session on stars. 17 tables of 25/50 PLO-action right now. Looks like he is up.
Does anybody remember an episode of Poker After Dark (in the last two years or so, I think) in which Howard Lederer was discussing the business of poker?
I remember Howard saying something regarding the business that struck me as being odd and a little bit shady, and I believe his statements related at least indirectly to how the funds of a poker site may be distributed. From what I remember, Howard seemed to imply that, because a poker site is run as a business (e.g., a corporation), some common-sense rules didn't apply.
I think it would be interesting to comb through the transcripts of Howard's various statements on television pertaining to the poker business to better understand his mind set in the old days, especially given today's news from the DOJ that has focused the public's attention back on the FTP scandal.
Every time the guy opens his mouth is calling out Phil or bashing him and running him down. His antics on the Big Game were nothing short of disgusting, and now he's going out of his way to try and get a HU game going at the WPT.
Is he just piggy-backing on Phil's fame for self-promotion reasons, or does he have some weird psychological problem that targeting Phil H satisfies?
Pretty sure that somewhere deep in the back of his mind he desires to have his babies.
I have never seen any related to poker being a trend on yahoo.com before, but i just log on a minute ago and I see FULL TILT POKER on top of Paris Hilton? Nice!
