The PPA has been notably silent when players have been wronged by the owners and operators of online poker sites like in the Absolute Poker and UltimateBet scandals.
If you are successful in your goal to enact favorable legislation, then future scandals like those at Absolute Poker and UltimateBet will probably not happen. However, the laws regarding online poker are not going to change overnight.
In the past year, has the PPA made a single public statement denouncing the actions of the AP and UB owners? Why not?
In the past year has the PPA attempted in any way to protect or advocate for the players who were stolen from and lied to by the owners and operators of Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet? Why not?
In the past year has the PPA attempted to protect the owners and operators of Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet by spreading misinformation about the scandals and by attempting to sweep the scandals under the rug? Why did you do that?
Does the PPA have any ties to Absolute Poker, UltimateBet, or the Kahnawake Gaming Commission? Have those organizations (that organization) made any donations to the PPA? If so, do you believe that there is a conflict of interest?
If you search the PPA website for "UltimateBet" you do not find a single mention of the scandal.
If you search the PPA website for "Absolute Poker" the only mention of the scandal is the MSNBC article which uses Absolute Poker's deliberately misleading press release as their source. Why would you publish on your site an article that you knew to be untrue?
Why do you believe that it is right to propagate misinformation about the Absolute Poker scandal and why do you believe that it is best to sweep the Ultimate Bet scandal under the rug?
On 1/23/08, PPA spokesman The Engineer stated:
"We at the PPA have discussed this issue extensively... We believe simply, that since effective regulation will fix this problem, we have more to lose than to gain by publicizing this Absolute issue..."
Greg, because of the extensive internal discussions, is it safe to assume that you are also in favor of spreading Absolute Poker's propaganda and hiding UltimateBet's crimes because you believe that that there is too much to lose by protecting the players who have been stolen from and lied to?
Greg, how do you respond to those who believe that the PPA is simply a lobbying tool of the online poker industry and that you are only fighting for poker players insomuch that doing so benefits the online poker companies?
The PPA board is dominated by those serving primarily the interests of affiliate farms and publishing interests, and Greg has been in the minority. Nonetheless, Greg should be asked about his role on the PPA board and whether he feels such a dominating interest on the board is or can be to the detriment of average players, both online and B&M ones.
Also Greg should definitely be asked why in the face of so much controversy regarding the PPA in the legislation forum over the past two years, he as both a board member and long time 2+2 poster has not participated in such discussions.
