Which was a standalone thread that was merged into the NVG low content thread.

I'm not an NVG mod, so I'll leave it to them to explain why it was moved, but it seems to me that it doesn't even belong in this forum. If I were that poster, I'd be checking to see if it's appropriate for either the Casino & Cardroom Poker or Venues & Communities forum.

If you're looking for a thread that simply talks about marked cards in general, that's an entirely different topic than that thread, which was looking to identify and warn people about one specific cheater.

There was a thread in NVG this AM where someone posted detailed info on what looked like a stable of cheaters using discord to build a larger group.

Was there a reason that thread was taken down?

I don’t know what the connection to the ZS thread in ATF is though.

wow. just read ATF thread. I have no idea what the hell is going on but sounds like

1) someone was alleging to have found some big cheat conspiracy, but was just advertising their own illegal solver

I guess it is a little confusing since the threads were deleted, but those are some...interesting interpretations.

The ATF thread is pretty straightforward. A company that produces software that appears to be primarily intended for RTA use, had a thread in our software forum. Unfortunately, it seems that went unnoticed/unrecognized by mods, but once the ATF thread was created, it was looked into, the thread deleted, and the account banned.

As for the thread in NVG, I believe it was deleted over concerns about publicizing cheating software. That is the dilemma when it comes to threads like that - making the community aware vs. giving publicity to the software. I've moved the thread to the mod forum for discussion there, but would be happy to hear anyone's input here as well.

thanks. I can understand now. NVG thread showed a dark side / part of poker world I just dont know much about so I did found it interesting. But yeah promoting cheating software not good.

Oh, and I should add for anyone else who reads this and might be a little confused because they never saw the NVG thread before it was deleted - it's about the exact same software being discussed in the ATF thread.

Normally I'm on board with Title changes and containment threads.
But this title is simply too generic, and divorces Mike from his crimes against humanity.

Can we add something as simple as The Disreputable Mike Matusow Containment thread:

Honestly I don't know why it was changed at all. Matusow is a career scammer and thief. It should be prominently in the title. It does a disservice when a mod for no reason at all decides to change a title. MM probably loving it though.

FWIW: I added the "containment thread" part when I merged another MM thread into it because that one quickly turned into another MM-scammer thing. I purposely left the scammer & thief part in the title but apparently some users complained about that for whatever reason.

Because it’s BS to slander someone like that from the hoards of basement dwelling social misfits, a la ECB, who probably have never even met MM in person much less have any kind of personal knowledge of him, but are merely trafficking in rumors and stories heard from “someone else”. They want to make posts about such things fine, but to label the thread as such for a containment thread is beyond the pale. And guys like ECB are so ready to sling the chit at everyone else, but any fire coming back his way is met with “How can you do that, don’t you know my wife…..”. He’s the nut low around here.

I'm glad that you left the scammer and thief in the thread, that's where it should be. But your other mod was wrong to remove it. Most feel it was appropriate except for a couple who want to defend MM and his history of scamming and thievery.

Oh and obv he does follow this thread closely because he was upset and blamed somebody for allegedly starting the thread on twitter a few weeks back. Appreciate you leaving it in the title but it's not cool that other mod capriciously decided to remove it, then after the fact asks if we're okay with it smh. Ridiculous.

Why does it always have to be this way with you? Just because you don't agree with a decision doesn't mean it was made "for no reason at all" or "capriciously".

And why do you justify every decision a mod makes on here? Madlex is a mod and left it in the title. Then whoisnext decided without even running it by the participants in the thread that he would change the title and eliminate the important theme. MM got exactly what he wanted now. It's wrong sir and based on a few other comments about it I'm not the only one who agrees.

The general policy in NVG about naming long-term containment threads is that titles should not be overly accusatory. See the DNegs thread for example.

Your reading comprehension appears to be as solid as always. I've offered no opinion on the decision, I was merely asking why you always have to jump to **** like that when you don't agree with the decision. I wasn't really expecting an answer, so I'm not surprised by your response.
