Anything about LATB is a non starter in NVG.

There is likely never going to be a thread discussing LATB in NVG. This policy was set months ago when we continued to have issues with Limon/LATB stuff.

There's a LATB thread in the twitch forum where you can discuss LATB.

The best forums are the least moderated. More often than not, mods do nothing more than kill creativity. They are like the Hollywood executives who try to make a movie better by hiring focus groups, running metrics, and in the process, smother the creative fire out of a project. I see it on this forum all the time.

FWIW, the list of "Middle Eastern Poker Players" was straight from Google and the cited Cardplayerlifestyle link. I did not make it up and its not a troll.

FWIW, the first player listed, Antonio, was born in Iran and has tweeted bout the ban.

Of course the "list" copied from Google and a known industry publication has errors, that was part of the point .....

That is why I included the warning about the source .... a little too subtle I guess.

As gobbo posted it did appear that you just chose seven random brown people without doing proper research on this important issue. Your explanation here explains the list and it is a reasonable explanation.

The thread may also get too political and may not end up being suitable for NVG if past quasi-political threads are any indication. I have a tough time seeing it being about poker rather than "politics", trump stuff etc. But if you want to give it another try, we can see how it goes. Be sure not to list people who are not from the seven banned countries.

I haven't seen his tweet but just because someone says they will be affected by something doesn't mean they are - with Brexit in the UK we have all kinds of people from EU countries who say they will be affected but who have actually been around for more than five years so won't be (also applies to me in the opposite direction).

I'd look for a higher bar to include someone in the post.

This above SGT RJ quote is from the NVG rules and guidelines thread. I did not delete the Matt Moss but the above goes a long way in explaining why the thread was deleted. We were already getting a bunch of "who is Matt Moss" and sarcastic type comments so it was not going to be much of a thread. He lost a bunch of money apparently. The topic does not deserve its own thread

Who decides who gets to promote themselves through these forums and who does not? It appears that Joe Ingram and Doug Polk are able to get tons of free advertising for their YouTube channels (and other various forms of social media) while other shows and streams are quickly locked out. You guys do realize that, while not a paid subscription service, these guys make money from YouTube and in some cases they shill training sites and other products on their streams, no?

i get why academics are allowed to poach information from nvg. i don't get why they aren't encouraged more to engage in conversation. while i'm happy to help grow poker & research, given these aim to be career boosts for some people, it would be nice if they gave more of an effort in their dealings.

Maybe make that thread the Doug Polk containment thread? I know he's trying to "build his brand" (and he's still listed as a NVG mod so he might get extra leeway) but there 5 recent/bumped Doug Polk threads and there's countless others mods have already moved.

+1 He's one of Joey's guys who are "transitioning" - the unfortunate phrase they use to talk about moving out of poker - so there should be less content on him on a poker forum than say 3 years ago.
