It is a shame, though, that a mod didn't post an explanation when it was closed.

It was discussed in the mod forum and generally agreed nothing good was happening in that thread, and possibly bad things were happening given Brandon's potentially poor state of mind.

It's not like the thread has been nuked, it can be reopened in the future by any NVG mod should circumstances change.

I was making a post to say not to close the thread and hit submit and the thread was already closed. I didn't see her explanation until after I made the ATF thread but my point still stands. A guy steals a small fortune and then jumps off a building and people should be able to talk about it. This is the internet ffs.

And people did talk about it for a good long while.

There is nothing new to discuss and hasn't been for some time. Bumping it periodically just to drum up some forced outrage that there hasn't been any payment when we literally have no idea of his physical condition after a severe and life-threatening injury seems purposeless and cruel.

I'm sure some new issue will arrive in due course and everyone can get their fill of rubber necking. The thread isn't going anywhere and will be reopened when warranted.

Fair enough.

I think RJ has a good point here:

I was against closing it a few months ago. But now the thread's 6 months old and there hasn't been anything new added for quite some time. Hard to see the benefit of keeping it open, and as RJ says, it can always be reopened if something changes. It's not going anywhere.

I think nvg is a poor location for the thread but calling the thread "rubbernecking" is pretty far from the truth. The guy didn't just get hurt in a car accident or something. He stole a tremendous amount of money and likely did the damage to himself. A bunch of mods, who probably don't even play for a living, censoring discussion of the topic in a forum filled with his victims is pretty bad IMO.

No idea what the relevance of this is.

Victims who have been able to talk about it for 6 months, who have been told that the thread that can be reopened if they have updates, and very few (if any) of whom have posted in the thread recently AFAIK. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure the majority of the discussion lately has been carried by people who aren't involved. But if there are a lot of victims who feel differently (perhaps you're one of them, IDK), they can let us know and the decision could be reconsidered.

The fact that he stole a bunch of money is not in dispute, and has been discussed ad nauseam.

That his injuries appear to be self-inflicted is irrelevant to the question of his repayment. If he intended to kill himself he was in a great deal of mental pain. That he survived and needs to time to physically recover before all else is true whether he jumped off a building or was the victim of a hit and run.

As Bobo pointed out, you don't really understand the definition of censorship. Nothing was censored (well, some posts were censored, but not many, and not the major discussion/points). The discussion was ceased with the option to restart it.

I agree with Bobo that if the victims of Brandon would like us to reconsider, they should PM us with their concerns. Everyone else has no real standing here other than their desire to participate in the drama, which is standard for NVG and the internet, but at this point seems counterproductive and cruel.

that thread should be reopened when Gobbo buys 20k worth of Brandon's debt with the money he made staking a 14-year old to play high stakes MTTs.

such a silly one-sided viewpoint. Perhaps you never considered that Jimmy gave Brandon a chance at life, a chance to provide for his Dad as he was dying. Perhaps you should not comment on what you know nothing about.

seeing a mother defending her son enabling a 14-year old kid to gamble for high stakes and putting (again) a 14 year old kid in a position where he could be in debt tens of thousands of dollars is definitely not the response i expected.

just to be clear: seeing how the

I've got no pony in this race, but you seem pretty damn judgmental and sure of yourself about a situation you aren't directly involved in AFAIK.

Either way, you've made your point - pretty sure RJ didn't close that thread just so you could restart it here.

which is why I'd like to invite DrawNone to pm me if he'd like a personal response as to why I'm not in the least "ashamed" that my son initially staked Brandon.
