if he had said "i'm going to trick you into coming into the kitchen in a fast food restaurant, push you to the ground and lite the fry-a-later on fire while i watch and laugh" then that is a death threat

if a gap-toothed 1/2 live player offended by hilarious photoshops had said "one more of these and i will kill you" then that is a death threat.

what he said, "die in a grease fire" is just a colorful way of saying how he feels about him. a death threat is (obviously) threatening someone with death. what he says is closer to "you mean as much to me as the gum on my shoe" than it is to the above examples of actual death threats.

The problem is, he wasn't banned for a death threat.

Admittedly, I mistakenly mentioned death threats, but RJ has only ever said death wishes, and that's what she banned him for.

Death wishes are against 2p2 rules.

Even if it's obvious (or you think it's obvious) that it's simply hyperbole, it's not allowed. At all. Period. This is one of the few hard and fast rules on the site.

So much so that the common acronym for the specific form of death he wished is part of the profanity filter: *****.

Violating a hard and fast rule has consequences. You don't tell someone to *****, or "go kill yourself", or anything even remotely similar. And you certainly don't do it multiple times.

Nor is "I didn't even know that was a rule" an excuse. We aren't hiding the site or forum rules from anyone.

If he didn't know what he was posting was a rules violation, he should have. Either way, he was way over the bounds of what's allowed, even in a thread with pretty lax rules about venting/propriety.

But it's only a temp ban, he'll be back in 48 hours.

I get the feeling you are disagreeing with this because you dislike (or even hate) the person it was aimed at. I can sympathize, truly. I think Primo has come off as much as a slimy, lying, looking out for his own interests only scumbag as possible.

That said, you still aren't allowed to tell him "I hope you die a gruesome death" in whatever gruesome manner you would like to envision. You can think it, you just can't post it on 2p2.

Viffer tells people to die in a grease fire all the time on here. It was very obvious he was joking as he even mentioned Viffer and typed like him. Not saying it's right, but anyone with a brain could figure that out. Not saying he didn't need a time out for the rest of the rant, but that being part of the decision is just funny to me. It also seemed he calmed down on his own and continued to talk to ScamoAA in a calm, intelligent manner. Could have just infracted and warned imo, he's been very helpful in every thread he posts in. You sure it didn't have more to do with him saying you were acting like a 12 year old?

I only mod NVG; I can't mod outside this forum (and POG, although that's not really relevant here), and I have no idea what other mods might/might not allow in their forums (even if that's technically against site rules).

This very much seems to me like people are just pissed off because a) he was bashing Primo, who everyone hates and b) everyone enjoys a good lol@mod.

He went way over the line and was temp banned for it, given the severity of the infraction. That's pretty standard practice. There's nothing more to say.

If you want to make assumptions that it was influenced by anything other than his posting I can't stop you, but then I would suggest you don't know me very well.

Its obvious that if someone has the first name they don't need a 1 at the end of it, it is assumed they are already the first. Btw you didn't really do research on this did you?

The 1 gets added after the fact. King Edward I was just King Edward until there was a second one. Cal Ripken Sr. was just Cal Ripken until he named his son Cal. WWI was just The World War until there was a second one. Names change after the fact for distinction.

Exactly, the name changes after the fact but that means #2 would have to had been aware of #1. Couldn't in this case the 2 in chopsy be reffering to something other than chopsy? Maybe 2 is a favorite number. Maybe 2 is the day of birth. Could be a number of things. For Bobo fete to leap to conclusions IMO is very poor moderation on his part.

A quick search is still research. FCS they are practically spelled the same.
