Just curious why the thread I created yesterday about the Miami Herald reporting that a poker player had paid $40k for a courtside seat was deleted.

It's not as if it was set up as a question as to who the player was and therefore once the player was identified there should be no more discussion. I just thought that it was interesting that the newspaper thought it was newsworthy that a "professional poker player" paid for the seat. Now, theoretically, the community may not have been interested to discuss the matter further, but I don't understand the official mod decision to mandate that there could not be any more discussion.
If the decision was based on the fact that the mod thought the thread was sort of an asked-and-answered scenario and locked it because the player was identified, then my question would be what would you have done if the paper had identified the player by name and I put that info in the thread title? See, to me, the interesting aspect was that the media thought it newswrothy to note that a professional poker player bought the ticket; the identity of the player is secondary.
Again, just curious why the thread was locked to prohibit any further discussion.
