Basically you're asking people to post better and that's just not going to happen in NVG. But specifically with regards to Twitter, people generally prefer embeds imo.

Speaking of twitter links, there might be a better place to ask but I don't know where it is, but I swear twitter embeds in threads seem to really mess up the go to next post that I usually use when going to threads I've already been to.

Does anybody know any workarounds?

I agree with you. The new software we will be migrating to in the near future shouldn't have this problem.

if you disable all third party tracking it should remove the embeds as that's needed for them to appear - it's to the point where in BFI a lot of people complain when they don't do a screenshot of the tweet instead of embedding

Yet this which is a whole load of nonsense with nonsense responses is deemed worthy of the prime real estate on nvg.

If the first thread was a highroller FT with "known" players and not 2 random Brazilians would it be worthy of staying in NVG? Seems what is kept in NVG and what isn't is all over the place. Mike Postle was cheating/colluding and that didn't get moved to the live poker sub forum whats the difference?

I'm not sure why either. I moved it back before I realized it had been moved from here - that's not really an IP thread IMO.

FWIW, whataboutisms never make for good reasoning when asking why a thread or post is moved or deleted, unless it's a direct comparison, which this certainly isn't. Whether the first thread belongs in this forum or not is in no way related to whether the second one does. If you have a problem with the second thread, report it!

There is a little truth to that. Sometimes it's not easy deciding what belongs in IP, and what belongs in NVG. As you can see here, even mods don't always agree on that.

Here's the way I see it, FWIW.

If someone has an issue with a poker site flaw, it belongs in IP. If it's a personal issue - IE locked account, missing money, etc. - usually in its own thread. If it's a problem with the site in general, it belongs in the appropriate site thread, if there is one. But this is one of the trickiest thread types, because sometimes when a major site makes a big change people aren't happy with, they'll start a thread here and it gets left, because it falls under "Poker News", or "Poker Views". Tough call sometimes.

If there's been some kind of specific cheating scandal, I think that is more of an NVG topic. Also a tough call once in a while.

Different threads, different forums, etc. But the Mike Postle thread was pretty obviously a major story from the get-go. The thread you're talking about isn't quite the same.

Because it was seen by mods, and it was a discussion about moderation which belongs here, not derailing the main thread.

That is up to them and I can't answer for them.

One thing you will have to get used to is that this is a moderated forum, and it will be imperfect, but you will have to learn and abide by forum policies if you wish to continue to be a member and post here.

Derailing threads and directly insulting the person are not allowed. Insulting a position or idea is fine but back it up with substance, not just a raw your thinking sucks type of post. Better yet is to dispute a point or idea with facts and references. As soon as it gets personal, we have a problem.

Understood and I agree wholeheartedly but you must not have read my post....or maybe you did. I certainly did not insult anyone and was in fact pointing out the obvious bias of when this particular mod chose to discipline "insults". I'm under no illusions here, I'm sure he sleeps even better knowing he is fighting the good fight for his like minded warriors.

One other issue we have to deal with, and I have no idea if this is something you have stepped into yet so take this as general statement.

Someone that is quite repetitive will also cross the line into trolling. Once they make their point they will sometimes argue with the masses for pages and pages and never accept that they are not convincing anyone or moving anyone to their way of thinking.

At some point the mods will have to tell that person to let it go or leave the discussion. When the member does not abide to that request and continues the repetitive droning they frequently are given some time off or perma banned if they become too persistent.

Yes, I was in the thread where the guy kept quoting song lyrics over and over. It was bad enough but when the needle got stuck on Cher he had to go!

I would think you would have to repeat that post here to potentially get an explanation. The mod was most likely just removing the post from where it didn’t belong and leaving it to you whether you want to make those points in this thread or not.

ok here's the story.


This is in the coronavirus thread and the insults were beginning just previous to this but akashenk was the one that got flagged.

There were a couple other unnecessary insults prior to akashenk's post where the poster didn't receive a similar warning. Quickened posted that he was unhappy with the consistency of modding and brought it here. His complaint was valid but in a thread like that some posts do get missed by the mods. That's about it. Nothing earth shattering.

Thank you, I was honestly expecting a different response based on a perceived bias. Whether personal moderator bias is there or not is immaterial as long as there is reasonable moderation for all non-demeaning viewpoints.

I appreciate the mods and the thankless job they do to continue to make 2p2 the #1 source for accurate news in the gaming industry, as well as other interesting topics.

I don’t believe they make a lot of money (or any?); and for those ever upset with any individual decisions they may make, please remember that it is impossible to make all posters happy all the time. They go out on a limb and are probably faced w a large volume of questionable situations.

Most of my time has been spent in the LHE, draw and other poker, and internet poker sub forums - and they’ve all been excellent places to learn stuff from interesting people - both on and off the felt, get the opinions from top players, and make the occasional friend. I’m grateful for what 2p2 has done for poker, in general, and for me, specifically. I’m not sure that would be possible without good modding. Here’s hoping some of you will join us in the limit and draw/other poker forums - they are a welcoming bunch and plenty of crushers among them.
