Re: *** The Official Isildur1 Thread ***

so what isil is doing is effectively transferring the money from durrr to PA and Ivey. And Ivey in turn would ship the money back to the Casinos. What ultimately happens is all the money deposited into fulltit ends up in Casinos, holding the rules that " only house wins"

I was at the Bellagio during the WSOP FT. On Sunday night, Ivey was rolling dice for serious coin. The table had $100k chips in stacks of 20. Unreal action. Ivey supposedly won 7 figures.

Right around witching hour, midnight eastern time in Isildur1 and Iveys match right now:

Dealer: Isildur1 wins the pot ($260,998.50) with a full house, Aces full of Threes
Phil Ivey: head is dizzy
Phil Ivey: only going to play 2 for a bit
Isildur1: ok

Is Isildur1 trying to bewitch someone, lol?

I think the swede was up about 450k tonight, he just said he was going to sleep if Ivey didn't play three tables of 500-1000 PLO. That he was too tired to only play two.

Re: *** The Official Isildur1 Thread ***

I watched the match. It started 3-table at 500/1000 NL. Ivey sat 200k and Isul $100k at all 3. Not before long Ivey had a huge lead and was up 800k by the 1st hour. It was after a small beat that Ivey said he was getting dizzy and sat out at 1 of the tables. Isil then asked to switch to Omaha so they moved to 500/1000 and played 3 tables there. Ivey slipped off ~700k at the Omaha - ultimately breaking about even. The fun ended after Ivey lost one of his 500 stacks. Isil requested they play more, Ivey sat in for a brief second back at the NL w/ 200k ea. where they had this discussion until leaving:

Isildur1: or u get patrik playing to
Isildur1:
Phil Ivey: i can't promise
Isildur1: ok
Phil Ivey: how r we doing on the day
Phil Ivey: i have no idea
Isildur1: we are even
Isildur1: mb ur up little
Phil Ivey: i feel like im burried
Phil Ivey: i must of won alot in nl i guess
Isildur1: yeah u won much at nl
Phil Ivey: play u tommorow
Phil Ivey: too tired
Phil Ivey: gg
Isildur1: ok , gg

Re: *** The Official Isildur1 Thread ***

Quick Session Report for Isildur and Ivey's recent PLO match at 500/1000 3 tables.

My gorilla math shows that the PLO session went thusly:

Final Stacks: (I couldn't calculate top-offs, but re-buys accounted for)

Table 1: Isildur1: $1,402, 394 Ivey: $Felt 200k buyins each, Isil never rebought. tIsil's profit on this table approximately $1,202,394. 367 Hands.

Table 2: Isildur1: $655,436 Ivey: $324,456 200k Buyins each with Isil never rebuying. Profit for Isil appx. $330,980. 370 Hands.

Table 3: Isildur 1: $635,436 Ivey: $882,436 Ivey had no re-buys on this table, so Isil's money was all his own. Profit to Ivey appx. $682,446. 384 hands.

Isil up about $850,928 for this session, ore thereabouts. Not sure how bad the damage was in earlier session, but I think Isildur showed at least some profit tonight.

What an epic session. I wonder if these are the glory days, the peak for internet poker, or a harbinger of things to come? No doubt about it, this Isildur phenomenon is something to behold. What crazy action. Ivey talked (typically) of quitting about 1/2 way through the length of the actual sesh - He loves to do this - claim he's got something else to do and book a profit. This trait alone I feel is why he's top-o the pops year ofter year. He knows when to cut bait and when to use an old trader's trick and use a trailing stop-loss.

However, even Phil isn't immune to the "Isildur" effect, and I think that after losing that 1.2 million dollar pot, even his reptilian blood started 2 boil and he stuck around chasing a bit.

After watching Isil go head to head with the *very* (empirically in the internet world) best in the game, Antonius & Ivey and booking profits one-on one, it's possible to make a case that he matches up as well as anyone HU against any other known player - And of course there is the documented destruction of Dwan. (Forget Doyle, RIP Durrrr's bankroll).

If this guy could just lose the OK Corral mentality and pick his fights, (learn a lesson from the incomparable Phil Ivey about game selection, stop losses & BR management) then it's possible he could be mentioned in the same sentence as Ivey & Antonius for real.

Maybe he's too young to hear the famous story of the two bulls:

Young Bull - "Hey Dad!! Look at all of those cows down there in the Valley! Let's RUN down there and f*c*k one of those cows!"

Father Bull - "No son, let's WALK down, and f*c*k them ALL!"

Re: *** The Official Isildur1 Thread ***

For the sake of clarity re: my statement that Ivey's ability to book a profit is what (alone) separates him. My point being that it's not over the table play that puts him at the very top.

Obviously he's got some amazing gifts, but I don't think he's any better a poker *player* than, say Tom Dwan, or a better PLO HU player than Ziigmund.

But compare Ivey to these other two mondo-talented players, and there is NO comparison when it comes to BR variance and earnings, which must of necessity be the final measure of poker success, at least in my book.

There's no way to over-emphasize the importance of BR management at any level of poker. How many good players (or even great ones) never get a chance to develop because they have the itch and don't have the emotional fortitude to avoid all out degeneracy. The old story of fear and greed responsible for so many interesting phenomenon surrounding human activity - like the wall of worry that drives the financial markets.

Nope - the big 3 - Ivey, Antonius and Galfond really get it - at least so far. Watching the ride of Gus Hansen, Isildur and Dwan is a great object lesson for the aspiring player.

Among my favorite players, the ones I try to emulate are the Dang bro's. I saw an interview where one of them admitted straight up that he's not *that* good of a player. He said he's a good player, but a GREAT bankroll manager. He hates that feeling that comes from spewing off your entire roll in an orgy of frustrated chasing. (I'm sure that other than myself, nobody here has ever had THAT particular experience - but take it fro me, it's no fun).

He made a great point that if the goal of life is to be happy, then why not be happy at poker NOW and play within your means. It worked for him, from .25/50 right up to nosebleeds.

I know, I know - Simple to say, difficult to implement - which is why I have such respect for those that get it at the highest level. Time will tell whether or not Isildur gets it. If he's playing with his entire roll night after night then I vote (in keeping with the poll) that going busto is assured. But the way he's throwing stacks around at 500/1000, it's possible his BR is a lot more substantial than many have assumed.

Sad to say but ISILDUR1 is here to stay and definitely a force to reckon with. However, the questions is: "Is he smart enough to walk away?" He can't have this run forever..

Just got done watching the match for tonight against PA. Isildur just crushed him bad style. On the four tables he had a 1.6 million stack to PA busto stack. He had a 1.1 million stack on the other to PA 237k, As well as a 800k stack to PA 300k stack. And the other one was 300k to PA 800k stack. All in all the big loser this time was PA. The 1.6 stack was just sick because PA kept reloading for 100k at a time and isildur just set him all in every hand and won pretty much every hand. Man I am really starting to think he will break them all. Last night he came out on top of IVey, as well as had PA running for the hills he really just quit out of nowhere. Then Mr ziggy was about to step up then decided other wise LMao. I mean who is left on tilt for him to destroy.
People that are considered the best in the world are turning down his action now.
