A poster above indicated that the max rakeback achivable is 29.xx%, lets call it 30, 25 from edge and 5 from FTPs
On Gold you get about 17% back in FPP and 7% from stellar rewards, totaling 24%
As the rake on FTP is 25% higher than on stars, the two systems are not even close in value... (this is a generalization, taking a turbo sng on stars that charges ~8% versus the similar tournament on FTP charging 10%)
Without bonuses FTP Diamond is worse than PS bronze (lower rake +16ish% rb equivalent)
with what we know now the proper decission will be to clear all bonuses on FTP then go back to stars and stay there
Another point that has been overlooked is that on the Edge rewards page if you don't have silver you don't even get rakeback.

Achieve Silver status or higher to earn Edge Rewards cash payments as you play real-money games and accumulate Full Tilt Points. The higher your status, the more you earn
Then we see rakeback is a huge 10% for silver, 15% for gold, 20% for platinum and if you reach diamond you get the full 25%. Keep in mind that diamond is roughly the same volume as the top iron man used to be. So low volume casual micro / small stakes players get near 0 rakeback instead of 27%, mid to high volume players drop from 35% - 40% to 25% to 30%.
I fail to see any group at all that is better off under this new system unless I am missing something. I really really hope I am missing something.
