This seems like a pretty terrible pot-get-in from Ivey with an SPR of as much as 3 still.

Why would Galfond just flat the Aces pre here after getting 4bet, and not just 5bet get it in at this point?
Seems like any equity-shifting won't be that consistent, or consistently in his favour at least. But I have seen him do it before as well.

Because 5betting, at those stack sizes, allows villain to get away from AKKx preflop once in a blue moon.

No seriously, that's why.

And that's such a bad thing? Not really. It's not like they're that deep. Can take that $4500 (or those 22.5bbs) variance-free then, when we're not miles ahead.

It would be a disaster to fold out AKK* pre when you have AA** and you're guaranteed to gii on any flop.

It's just HSDB's error. Obviously that stuff isn't possibly with these stacks.

I think that "disaster" is substantially overstating it. And also, you're not still guaranteed to gii on any flop with an SPR of 2.
And also that's even assuming that he does always have AKKx, and we wouldnt want to just charge more pre from various other rundowns or AKQx etc

Yea, the sickest part really is that all that money comes from absolute beasts. I mean wouldn't be that impressive if he crushed 1 game, but he is playing any1 at PLO,8game, O8, draw. ****ing 1 of a kind dude, gotta love that heart

Hey guys, I know we've already discussed it but HSDB caught a direct quote from Ben from his podcast with Joey:

Quote:
"I couldn't say enough about him, he is a sick, sick player, a brilliant guy. If he approached poker the way that I did, he would have ALL the money. The things he's done by intuition and sheer volume and just competing are amazing. He's figured out so many things, that, I used to think he was just spewing or something, and then eventually I was able to come around to the theory, and he's just got ahead of the game (and) he picks up these theory things by his intuition. LIke, if you made a new poker game... or just a card game and it just released and nobody played the beta or anything, then I would just be all-in on Viktor being the best. His ability to figure out strategy games with no formal studying is mind-blowing, he is an extremely impressive guy."
Mad respect.

Wish he would play more recorded live games but its understandable considering the annoying characters that play in live games these days..
