Why would Ilari even consider quitting at this stage? He's got 560k on the tables. The only reason this is happening is because of connection issues it appears.

It took friken Scott Seiver to get Galfond to see the situation for what it really is.
10-27-2012 , 12:06 AM
what kind of connection does ilari have? how does one ever have sub 50% connection? :O

Its probably more of a country-wide issue rather than a individual issue. Seiver confirmed that the connection in Finland pretty bad, which was rather odd of him to say that out of nowhere.
10-27-2012 , 12:19 AM
0% connection. solid.

game back on for the moment

I'm sure he has before, but I just did not think that he would actually do something like that against Ilari today. I wonder what Phil was thinking that made him think that this would be an +EV decision?
10-27-2012 , 02:06 AM
not sure why thats so surprising. the guy plays plo for a living, every plo player loves to gamble.
10-27-2012 , 02:12 AM
He just comes across as an extremely calculated and focused person and playing 9x raises at times with a 100bb or less stack would surely decrease his edge alot against a player like ilari

Spoiler for people who don't want to read strat in NVG thread.

Spoiler:
I think it would for sure give him a bigger edge. 3x9x not only changes the bb/sb ratio but also makes stacks more shallow (relatively) which imo would favour someone more versed in theory and math.

I don't know either of their games but it seems ziigmund is great at putting maximum pressure on people with deep stacks etc but probably isn't that great at theory. Someone like that will probably adjust slower to changing structures and will probably be worse at shortstack poker which requires more straight up math and less handreading too. Can you guys remember harrington10's pokerstatic interview? He was saying that players like ziig were weak in the CAP games because they thought they could call more hands and outplay people postflop (which they can do deeper) but mathematically they can only play so many hands preflop.

Just imo
