exactly. But if you take winrate you can get an approximation of your hourly. if you are making more $$ then calculated variable hourly then you are running good and thats variance. if you are making less $$ and are stuck then you are running bad and thats also variance.

dont be afraid of the word variance. it exist in everything you do! even when you go to work in the morning, whether or not there is traffic. well that's variance too!

That's not really true. A higher winrate doesn't necessarily mean your variance is any lower and it could just as easily be higher but you will have smaller downswings and bigger upswings as when you're running 5bb/100 under expectation you won't be losing as much as someone with a lower winrate.
