you may want to look up hsdb, joiso up 400k in o8 in one day, most of it from isildur obviously.

what´s your excuse for blom this time?

I can live with this summation, sounds bout right.

I suggested that we don't really know yet. You're assuming that Blom thinks the way other people do but that's not necessarily the case, especially if -like I said- he doesn't see things (esp. money) the same way most people do. He seems to play just for the challenge of it, always playing the best players no matter what, even in games he's not schooled in. It seems that challenge > money for Isildur in contrast to a degen or someone with a 'gambling problem' for which gamble > money. So maybe I've just answered my own question, my conclusion is that Blom is a compulsive self-challenger and that's what he puts above all else, even money. It's ironic that this compulsion to self-challenge which is probably one of the keys to his success is also his achilles heel.
Without knowing him personally at all, what you've said sounds very accurate to me. I don't think he's a degen in the classic sense, and I definitely think he's a humble guy. Compulsive self-challenger sounds about right... hopefully it doesn't devolve from there.

Aside from standard degening, small chance he wants to build a roll for 200/400 before FTP puts limit restrictions on him? Meh...

My god, this entire thread has become an endless debate about whether isildur is good or not.

Yaaaawwnnnnnnnn.

He´s a unique guy, anything is possible really.

The only limit restrictions I can imagine to bring back the days of old ftp rail haven are the limits that he has to play at least 100/200 or higher imo

Don't know where you got your numbers, because HSDB has Isildur at -$148k over 20k hands whereas joiso is -$415k in only 6k hands of FLO8.

So your suggestion that joiso can expect to beat Isildur at 20bb/100 doesn't seem to be a statement backed up by fact, now does it?

Actually mumpmampf, isildur is up in O8 since I made that post. His winrate is about -0.7bb/100 now (he even briefly got back into profit yesterday) and why would I need an excuse? it's likely that he's a marginal loser long term in O8 currently but it's already mathematically impossible that he's anywhere near a 20bb/100 loser. By the way I wasn't implying that joiso was a losing player, it's far too early to tell, but it was quite funny you were assuming he would have an absolutely ridiculous edge based on no evidence at all.

I am pretty sure we don´t have to worry about isildur. Have their been any assumptions what his FTP deal will earn him? I´d think it´s more than the 100k/month he got from PokerStars. Eventually, he´ll make a big run again! I predict within the next year we will see sick sick action again.

Also, even if Viktor were to lose _absolutely everything_, he'd still be able to live, eat and sleep in a warm apartment due to social security. It's a good safety net to have when playing with money like he does, especially when so young still.

why do you want assumptions?

I agree. And it's not plausible to put every single person on your ignore list either.
10-20-2012 , 09:42 AM
I agree, i think this is becoming a bit over the top with isildur discussion. Time to make an offical isildur monthly thread i think.
10-20-2012 , 09:43 AM
Don't understand the logic behind ftp or stars sponsoring anyone 100k pmonth, just no way they can bring that kind of money back to the company surely?
10-20-2012 , 09:59 AM
As far as I know there was never any proof as to how much Stars paid Viktor
10-20-2012 , 10:04 AM
I, also, am not sure why the same four people say the same four things on a bi-weekly basis

Jamie please make an isildur thread this thread has become aids and I have 7/8 people from here on ignore it ridiculous.
10-20-2012 , 10:19 AM
Isildur is the main catalyst of all crazy action at the high stakes and you just can't ignore him. He's the protagonist in his swingy drama against the world, so he has the biggest comment count.
High stakes thread balances itself with some moronic comments but it has that golden stuff by Vanilla Thunder, IcePrincess, Testi and others (sorry for not mentioning all hand posters but that's not the main point). It can't be highly polarized with only good stuff
True HS railers with find a way to read normal stuff and filter all the crap.

The thread just needs a decent moderator to get rid of a lot of the nonsense. To be honest, Jamie Platinum was always a very strange choice for moderator and it's about time he was replaced.

who is limmouse?

agree about moderating. I know people give up their free time etc...but we need someone who views this thread on a daily basis.
