Sauce and Isi opened up a plo table.

and Isi already at two other limit plo 08 tables

EDIT: Sauce wants to learn, says he's going to limp often lol

Sauce just took 20k from Isi.

Isi reloads for another 20k.

Another 20k reload for ISI. Down 40k to sauce so far.

Not sure why people feel the need to drum up excuses for why Isil continues to go bust. He's certainly a dog in 08 in current lineups, certainly a dog in 2-7td in current lineups and unfortunately whilst a very skilled PLO player not as good as at least Jeans/Galfond/Sauce. He's also very likely to have an edge on anyone at HUNL. He doesn't play HUNL, when he sits 2/400 PLO it's usually with 1 or a combination of the aforementioned and is seemingly determined to get really good at 08/2-7 no matter how expensive the integration is. Yes the fact he plays silly long sessions probably doesn't help but I remember back in the day he played silly long HUNL sessions and never dropped off. He's -EV in a lot of the games he plays he these days, that's all there is to it. He still happens to be the best for generating action and long may that continue

Screw that. I wish he would stop playing PLO and go back to hold'em. Even better, play in the upcoming third durrrr challenge.

It's beyond me how Isildur is like a kid in a candy store every single time he runs up his roll and feels an urgent need to challenge himself vs either Galfond and Sauce in PLO or more recently vs the toughest FLO8 and 2-7 regs. I mean is it that hard to just bank a win for a few days to solidify his bankroll and ensure his ability to keep playing poker which he clearly loves? Even if he doesn't care about money it's still a means to an end (playing poker). He's talked about how badly he's felt when he's gone bust in the past, you'd think he'd get tired of this continuous boom and bust pattern that he keeps repeating ad nauseum.

Also, it's not clear to me or maybe to anyone if his actions are due to him having a different view about money than others do, or if it's because he's a total flaming degenerate. Idk.

@akingdom... why are you still questioning whether hes a degen?... isildur is a guy with a gambling n ego problem clearly

Seems like it but who knows maybe he has a couple of megas locked up for retirement and just rather gamble with his disposable income than buying houses and cars. Regardless so far he's done pretty well for himself and this thread would not be the same without him.

Umm, an ego problem? I think not. I have not see anything to indicate that Blom is anything but a humble guy. As for him clearly being a degen, he's said before that he doesn't really care about the money. The line between him not caring about money the way that we do and just playing for fun on the one hand and being a degen on the other, is not nearly as clear cut as you make it sound. I suggested that we don't really know yet. You're assuming that Blom thinks the way other people do but that's not necessarily the case, especially if -like I said- he doesn't see things (esp. money) the same way most people do. He seems to play just for the challenge of it, always playing the best players no matter what, even in games he's not schooled in. It seems that challenge > money for Isildur in contrast to a degen or someone with a 'gambling problem' for which gamble > money. So maybe I've just answered my own question, my conclusion is that Blom is a compulsive self-challenger and that's what he puts above all else, even money. It's ironic that this compulsion to self-challenge which is probably one of the keys to his success is also his achilles heel.

Yeh, I think its safe to assume that now.

Unless he flew out as soon as the game ended?

Wherever the line is, Blom has crossed it. No matter how you want to slice it, the inability to sleep with money in his account and the need to stay up for 3 days continually playing, the tilting away of the bankroll and just trying to continually get money in the middle until his roll is gone (while he's tilted, obv).....that's all just degen and there's no two ways about it.

If all he wanted was the challenge then he wouldn't feel the need to keep playing until he's bust every single time. As Galfond said, Blom is aware that his looseness in 6max costs him a fortune but he keeps it up anyway because of his love of playing big pots. Do you think when he said to Hastings 'take my last $, I don't want it', that he was just trying to challenge himself? I agree with you that we don't know the guy and people assume way too much about him, but with certain behaviour exhibited over a long period of time you can safely assume a few things about him. Being a degen is one of those things.

As an aside it's pretty cute how everyone just assumes he's still the best HUNL player in the world despite not putting in serious volume for years.

There was never any chance at all that it was Dwan in the first place

Isildur's jollies come straight from playing. Having money in his account is simply a no go. Bankroll building isn't a concern because he knows or believes if he really wanted to, he could run up his bankroll significantly. However, his passion and love for the game, regardless of how much his competition is better doesn't matter. It's the mere rush of shooting up and down and taking bold risks is what drives him.
