once more time, they filed a bill to legalize online casinos in New York. I don't remember this time is how many time.
Do you think the Covid19 made the economy too bad and online sports bet was passed legal last year in this situation is going to legalize online poker? and then it will lead more states going to legalize online poker?

in addition, I pray the bill will be passed

p.s. English is not my first language if the above word has any error, please forgive me

Here we are again

They discussed this on the cracking aces podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...=1000597488221

I get the impression from the podcast the NY lawmakers are jellydicking around wrt to online poker with no intention to pass it. Here's to hoping

I didn't listen to the podcast but can you give a tldr on why you get that impression? Everything I've seen is the opposite especially from Pretlow and Addabbo who are the 2 lawmakers who introduced the bills. They introduced them 3 weeks earlier than last year because they think was their biggest mistake last year.

He alluded to the idea that operators/gambling lobbies have to the grease the pockets of lawmakers to get bills on the tables (which is no surprise). However, those lawmakers extort those contributions every year with no intention of actually having the bill pass (so they can continue to extort the next year and repeat). He was basically saying that's what goes on in NY every year.

Hope that tldr makes sense. Having NY pass would be massive for me personally, but my expectations are so low they can't disappoint me anymore

Conspiracy theories really? It’s going to pass this year.

yah i think it just takes some time. we all know there are lobbyists and the such so it doesn't need to be bribes behind the scene (that does happen sure we all know). i think online casinos come a bit later in the process so generally they are gonna do one step at a time. sucks but just how it works. someone needs to do a study, someone needs to think aboutr the kids etc etc etc. i'm a mass
resident and it sucks that they didn't just lump online casinos in with sportsbetting (just legal this month) but i think it'll come in a few years.

new york getting online would be so huge for everyone. right now no huge state really has it so i think it would make others follow suit. now would Ne wyork join multi state or do their own thing? could be very interesting. i'm closely watching as I have many good friends in new york and have a basement i can play in anytime. i wish new york good luck with this.

Call me naïve, but I think the only reason it doesn't go this legislature session is because the states priority is the 3 downstate brick and mortar licenses. Once that's done (my guess is mid 2024,) online poker is a near guarantee and probably shortly after. With the casinos opening, sports betting raking in countless dollars, it's politically a no-brainer at this point.

Not quite sure how that could work. There is online BJ with live dealers, but poker? Not likely.

It would never happen and could not happen. NY will follow other state models for sure. Big question is will they join the multi state pool right away? will they just say **** it altogether as they can support their own state only.

It would be completely idiotic but the article brings up live dealing and doesn't differentiate poker from other table games, and there are plenty examples of governments enacting laws and regulations that make no sense because they don't know anything about poker.

But it could be done in the exact same way, a dealer could deal the hands out like they do blackjack but face down to each player , and then the board face up, with RFID chip cards so the players could see on their phone/screen what their hole cards are.

Again, I don't think it's likely but the language in the article is vague and stupider things have happened

In the ever-evolving world of technology and entertainment, the subject of New York (NY) Online Casinos remains a hot topic. As it stands today, online gambling is not officially legalized within the Empire State. However, following the state’s successful launch of online sports betting on January of 2022, a new initiative has been introduced to establish regulated online casino NY gaming.

New York’s stance on gambling has been a complex narrative. Land-based casinos are legal and thriving, providing a wide array of games such as poker, blackjack, and slot machines. However, the laws surrounding online gambling are a different story.

Sen. Joseph Addabbo has proposed Senate Bill 8412 (SB 8412), a significant legislation centered around legalizing and regulating interactive gaming within the state. Passage of SB 8412 would place New York in alignment with other states that have embraced online casino gaming over the recent years, including neighboring states such as Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

is poker part of the online casinos? Seems like every time one of these bills comes up it prioritizes sports betting and table games - I understand the money reasons as to why, but it is frustrating.
