Why don't people take poker seriously if they are playing for play money?

They do if there is something at stake - like playing a kitchen table tournament with "dice chips" is taken just as a seriously as playing a game of Monopoly as there are bragging rights in the family at stake.

If it's online and anonymous and it's a cash game then there is nothing at stake so why take it seriously. Tournaments play noticeably more seriously as one can still "win" the thing even against "anonymous" people - but only really the annual WRGPT is comparable to real money poker because the bragging rights for being just the 27th winner ever of the world's oldest online poker tournament give something to be at stake.

Always found this interesting, not sure how legit it is:

The result is, in our view, that Full Tilt does not appear to have been a Ponzi scheme, as defined. ~http://www.kordamentha.com/docs/for-...?Status=Master
It can make sense for a bank to run as a fractional reserve etc. depending on how diligent and cautious it is. Usually it is thought that a banking system would optimize its ratios if it were to be a free banking system with many competitors (ie no central bank). Full Tilt was charged with being a ponzi but they argued and settled on not being defined as one (I believe, I would appreciate being corrected). I thought I read they had payment processing problems eventually just before they got taken down (I might be thinking of mt gox and bitcoin).

There is a difference. Banks take your money with the understanding that they will be investing it or loaning it out to you and others. They are required to keep an adequate supply of liquid assets on hand. Full Tilt took your money with the understanding that they would caretake it on your behalf, and then put Million$ and Million$ of it in their pockets (many of them were smart enough to siphon seven and eight figure sums off the site) or gambled it among themselves like play money (which is what it was in a sense; since it was money they had not earned, losing it held no real-world repercussions for most of them.)

Poker site that starts having slow cash out is there ever a reasonable reason that you could understand for slow cash outs?

Is a lot of people withdraw at same time a reason? Same a billion people withdraw at same time why would that make them slow pay?

Every time someone withdraw a computer automatically sends it to whatever

Why can a tiny companies handle load of orders in and out and a big poker site can't.....

I`m not able to get on the deucescracked website, and haven`t been for the past couple of days. I know that they were recently for sale, and am wondering if this has anything to do with it. Any info on this situation? Thanks!

Playing a tournament today on poker stars I folded the first 60 hands in a row. My best hand out of 60 was either king 3 off in seat 1 or jack 8 off in seat two.

I did not have one blind either small or big that was un-raised. On the 61 first hand I got Ace 2 off in middle position my all in was called and I was knocked out. Such fun.

My question is can anyone beat 60 folds in a row in a tournament?

I once made 69 folds in a row in a tournament. I think that's the record.

Lots of languages put the verb first .. no surprise with the date/month/year either. Check your Word Doc choices, it's in there ..

Parlez vous francais? = Talk you French?

I just tried Fullcontactpoker.com and got the sad face ... GL

Day < month < year

That makes sense. Smallest to largest. Month/day/year makes no sense whatsoever.
