I’m getting old, there is nothing I can do about that, but I’m still willing to play anybody “Doyle Sez”, where I can name the game and change to another game when I want to. If any of the internet stars, that don’t play live, want to play, I’ll give them half their money back if they lose if they play 8 hours a day for a week.

With respect to the 1k online, he says:

First, unless I specify it, any comments I make about poker don’t include internet poker. So when I said I never saw a poker game that I couldn’t beat, I meant 6 or more players sitting down at a table. I don’t mean on the internet where players might be talking on the phone or sending IMs.

i mean, if he just chooses some crazy poker variants (or even non-poker games) that no one has heard of since the 60's, and keeps switching between the games when the genius internet player adapts/learns the game, there's no way he can be beat. but if he's talking about the more popular games (7stud variants, 2-7 triple draw, pineapple etc.), someone like PA or even DN could easily be the favorite even without the half money back rule.

I think Ivey is the #1 contender here. I wonder what his weakest game is.

I really doubt those 2 are favorites against Doyle in any 7 stud variant imo.

yeah, but ivey is hardly an "internet star", when he was around way before internet.

I think Doyle really should post a list of the games he can choose from.

I don't think Ivey, PA, or Negreanu qualify for this challenge as I would consider them all seasoned live players (as well as online).

But I wonder if Durrr would qualify and if he would accept. I think Doyle would have an advantage in this match if he stayed away from NLH and PLO (which I'm sure he would).

Man there is a lot of ego in poker!

This is a clear angleshoot by Doyle, where "I can change the game whenever I want to" means constantly changing from Razz to Stud (and vice versa) right before showdown.

Also lol at Doyle's comments about the greats back in the 70's who would destroy today's player....

This is almost never the case especially in a sport/activity that is so new and still developing. Once in lifetime you may find someone who at thier height might be able to keep up with the competition in 40 years time (i.e. jordan or woods) but otherwise not. Its not a knock on Doyle, its just common logic.

This is probably not the best thing to say about Internet poker on a blog published on an Internet poker room that bears your name.

Willing to play anybody?

Or willing to play anyone who doesn't play live?

And what does the latter mean, I mean I'm sure all the internet players have played at least a little live, even at high stakes.

nah that just has to do with the money back. He wants to face an internet player who's never played live.

+1

To say those things about online poker is not very smart if you are promoting an online pokerroom.

I also find this part odd, since I read the challenge to be a HU challenge yet then he is also implying he wants a full game I dunno I'm confused by his intent but I'm pretty sure that if the best LHE "internet players" and Doyle sat down in a 6max LHE game live he'd be the 6th best player at the table.
