theres probably a thread on this somewhere...cage is a half-decent actor im sure playing a poker player/child molester will be well in his range

yea i thought it said walken too..they should just scratch this movie and make a new one where walken catches slim molesting a girl and beats his face in with a soldering iron

Mike Matusow would be a good movie: Drugs, depresssion, ADHD, bi-polar disorder, undercover cops, betrayal, jail time, the Vegas party scene, strippers, and poker stardom.

Nicolas Cage has done a lot of crap lately but lets not forget the best Vegas movie ever made had him in it : Leaving Las Vegas. He was amazing in that and can do a great job when he has a good script.

while i understand that people like "leaving las vegas" it never really could catch me

Any movie about a poker player is going to be boring. Have you seen that Stu Ungar movie with Chris from Sopranos. Its horrible and painful to watch. Even James Bond playing poker was boring.

IIRC, Slim was mainly a pool shark and proposition bettor, having read his autobiography "Amarillo Slim in a World full of Fat People" I could see plenty of
material for a movie, even if only half the stories are true

I agree the movie was terrible, but Ungar's biography "One Of A Kind" is excellent read.

I guess some girl that's hot enough to keep us interested, but innocent and sweet enough for us to be outraged that some (old) dude's hitting on her.
