It plays exactly like regular No Limit Hold'em, the only difference is that as soon as a player folds their hand the rest of the players still in the hand can see what has been mucked so far. The only hand which ultimately doesn't get shown is a winning hand where the final opponent folds (but it can be voluntarily shown after).

Multitabling bots will love this! Good to see Pokerstars taking care of their most loyal customer base.

Why will they? Surely bots wont be able to see the mucked cards as they are only on the table visual?

Not really sure what their target audience is with this. Seems the only people who'll benefit are;

a) regs with a good understanding of card removal,
b) people who want a REALLY accurate HUD for building ranges and
c) BOTS.

Can't see it attracting new players to the game, or bringing back anyone who's "bored" with normal hold 'em. Maybe the Stars development team are on a per-product bonus scheme?

Who is going to bother making a hud or bot for something quite likely to be a limited time offer. Pretty sure it would take a lot of work for both either way.

I like the game so far it kind of reminds me of stud games a little bit. Its nice to bring that knowledge to some good use in 2018

I suggested this atleast in Aug 8th 2013 and probably earlier than that. https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...6&postcount=51

However it's kind of stupid that they did this - show holdem is a format that is higher skill and lets winners win more. Stars obviously prefers the opposite.

Edit: Actually they didn't even include the best part, because the winner doesn't have to show [!?!?!?]. The whole purpose of the format is you can now adjust to your opponents mistakes much faster because you see how they played every hand (as opposed to seeing holecards 10% or less.) Not seeing the winner means you can't easily identify errors with aggressive actions - ie. now you basically only get to see if they fold too much. If you saw the winner then you could see when their bluff is out of line / not bluffing enough / etc.

Still waiting for shortdeck, think this will be the new best game (over NLH PLO)

I'm surprised at some of the attitudes shown in this thread.

I enjoy Stud because of the extra information and try to use it better than my opponents. This format incorporates that into NLHE.

And bots and mass multitabling HUDers wouldn't really be using this info

Honestly, I like that format. It gives the game a much bigger strategy part.

If the format is popular and beatable, the information will be incoprporated into HUD's. It does not seem too difficult to create a HUD that incorporates information gathered by face-up mucked cards.

Also suprised at the replies in the thread, it is personally not my cup of tea, but It seems much less of a rake grab than Split Holdem or Power up.

Power Up is not a rake grab, there are people beating it for 15+% ROI over many thousands of games, myself included. People are largely sleeping on this variant.

I do agree though, this showtime thing is not that bad.. it's just boring on the face of it.

Computers might have a hard time recognizing a cat or a lampshade, but it's trivial to visually pick up letters and numbers. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optica...er_recognition

It’s possible, but at the very least there would be a somewhat substantial lag period I would think

Seems like it makes EP way worse - I raise UTG, next 5 people fold ace/rag, button and blinds have lots of information about my hand before acting.

Probably not big enough so it's really hard to win.

Is this preflop only or can I see the mucked hands postflop allso? Makes a big difference in situations where someone folds a flushdraw on the flop for example.

Exactly.

EP has to be played way tighter and late position way more. Almost every hand which hasnt been blocked by the folded cards before, has a big equity boost especially any suited connectors become monster hands if no one had the same colour or straight blocker before him. Id really like to see a tournament format with open cards.

I doubt any good player will want to show every hand they fold.

Being in LP is already a big enough edge - I could see this working but they'll need to have more blinds/double blind button/additional antes from LP to compensate for this.

888 has some kind of this as a 1$ gimmick tournament where only the winning hands get shown (BB when folded to, bets that get people to fold) - thought they might go this route, but it#s the complete opposite it seems?

playing pairs when people in front fold overcards or rags w/o your set-outs mbn.
