EV isn't everything - you really need to be able to back it up with the volume to actually realise it.
I mean - if all the money in the world you owned, at the age of 50, including your house, car, etc - your entire net worth, was $1M and someone offerred you a bet:
Pick a number between 1 and 50, you have to stake the whole $1M. Anyway, a wheel spins and randomly lands on a number, from 1 to 50. If you get the right number, well then you get $1,000,500.
So - that is +EV. But if all you have is $1M and that is everything it took your whole life to build, it's not worth staking that for the chance at realising that tiny bit of expected value.
Now sure - if you had many, many billions of dollars, then you should take that bet all day long, take it every moment of every day until you have all the money in the world (save for the most horrible run-bad in existence that sends you broke).
But it's a basic bankroll management principle; Expected Value doesn't mean **** if you're not rolled to realise the value expectation.
