Just watched this movie and it was very very good. Would not be surprised if it is up for a few awards come year end. Reynolds really carries the movie, the other actors are, uh, meh. Would like to hear about a possible sequel in the works.

Yeah, if that was the guy rr was hanging out with. Played it way to flat and seemed to overact in lots of spots.

That...is an interesting take.

I thought RR was fine, I guess? I disagree that there was no development or back story but I don't think any of it added up to a believable character or relationship. I think he was being counted on to create his character through pure magnetic charm, and while I don't think it worked I don't know who could have made it work.

I paid $12.99 to see it. Figured we would have seen it in the theaters anyway, so still cheaper.

I've seen this movie before, it was called California Split. Seems like the same story, it must be really hard to compete with the brilliant writing of Robert Altman, the creator of MASH.

California Split has the best dialog of any movie about gambling, if you haven't seen this classic piece of cinema your missing out! It was the Rounders of it's time!

Bit meh. Heard it wasn't the usual cliched gambling movie but it's the same old lark.

I have no idea who that actor is but he needs to be cast in the lead role in a Mickey Appelman biopic

I think it's probably harder to sympathize with with Mendelshon for us as opposed to the layman, people on this forum are all too familiar with scammers now.

I thought it was the best film about gambling I've seen in a long time. The ending wasn't about what's right or what should happen IMO, it's about pure luck and how luck doesn't have reason.

If you like Ben M, watch Animal Kingdom which is a great film in it's own right.

Thought it would have been more realistic (besides those two degens losing everything) if that little scut Ben took all the money and ran in the end. It was the usual American "happy ending" in fairness.

Ps.anyone happy that queen hit on the river after Ben's blatant slow roll.

Sorry can't edit.

Ben was a blatant liar (almost everything he said was lies), a slowroller, an alco, a psycho (the screaming at the horse racing) , and a moron(not ****ing that sexy chick, trying to steal his ex-wife's socks, putting his entire roll on the throw of a dice).

Thought he was going to rip off RR for sure at the end.
Ps Wasn't his tell tape "wrong" i thought when someone is laughing and looking relaxed they're strong but the film had it opposite. I don't play live so know nothing about it, but i remember Stave Daneman looking relaxed and joking when he had a set and Joe Hachem laid down top top.
