Ultimate no longer exists. Only WSOP.com and the future 888 skins planned for NV will end up benefitting from the shared player pool.

Since Real Gaming and the planned T/I site have no physical presence in DE. they will not benefit.

What is Texas's stance on gambling? They have any casinos there?

Regarding online, our newly elected governor, Greg Abbott, is or at least was bought and paid for by Adelson. He was one of the signers for Adelsons petition to ban online poker. Most likely no hope here.

Regarding b&m, it's my understanding our state receives money from Oklahoma and Louisiana to make sure Texas does not allow b&m casinos so that they can collect on the Texans traveling across the border to gamble at their casinos.

This has long been a rumor of a deal between Indiana, Ohio and West Va casinos to keep Kentucky players crossing over. Likely it is BS , but I would not be shocked if there is some "unoffical money" changing hands. Could be that way in Texas, who knows for sure?

The official money has been documented many times:

Gambling Interests Bet $7.6 Million On Texas Politicians In 2008 Cycle [tpj.org]
Indian tribes accounted for 7 percent of gambling money, led by the Oklahoma-based Chickasaw and Choctaw nations. These flush tribes collectively spent $477,508 on Texas elections. The Oklahoma tribes have opposed Texas gambling expansions that would compete with their casinos across the Red River.

As a resident of the state of WI, I am really happy to hear this. I hope it sparks something other states can get interested in.

All states who do online poker should automatically do this (although if they needed a 1 year probationary period, I'd understand).

If they like money.

Let's get NJ in there.

Honestly NJ and Nevada have relatively large poker markets, but California is where it's at IMO. The population is just so much larger there than any of the other states considering it.

I think the CA bills prohibit pooling and the state is so big it wouldn't even be necessary.

Just received confirmation from @BillRini of @WSOPcom that NV and DE are in the soft launch phase of merged player pools. #OnlinePoker

888 is the only platform that will benefit from this agreement, as 888 is the only platform in DE.

DE players will still play on the DE site, likewise the NV players will keep playing on NV sites, basically as skins on common network. This is the only model I see working across state borders.

IMHO
Jupp, congrats to wsop for securing a monopoly

Most CA bills would allow interstate pools. Intrastate only was a position from a few years ago that seems to have died.

Just out of curiosity, and lack of knowledge....If/When individual states eventually sign a bill to legalize poker, do you think a compact is possible from the start, or do the regulators need to first monitor the sites within its state before they can pool players from other states?

I really hope NJ joins too. I mean if we can get more players for bigger tournaments that will help advertising.

It seems likely that states could instantly network at launch, assuming sites already active serve their state. The latest bills in CA and the current one in PA that has a chance would allow it from the first day. Whether it is technically possible is another question, but I would have to assume if 888 is one of the providers, it would be simple, since it powers this NV/DE site.

HUDs need to be sorted out for compacts. NJ allows them and NV does not.
