Negreanu > ADZ ? He thinks so.. Negreanu > ADZ ? He thinks so..

From his forum, DN says he can't imagine a scenario in which he is -EV against ADZ..what do we think?

Oh..and first time, long time..or something.

Here is DN's post about the game:

Not saying this to be mean at all, but are you serious??? I felt like he was one of the weakest heads up players I've ever faced and don't see how he could ever beat a good player heads up. I'm starting to wonder how good all of these online superstars really are because the ones that seem to be touted as excellent, play in such a way that I find easily exploitable.

I'm sitting, waiting for whoever, but my confidence is growing after playing some of these guys and leaving thoroughly unimpressed overall.

Any idea the exact number of hands he's played vs ADZ lifetime?

I really don't know who has an edge here, but comments like DN's are simply ******ed in my book.

No more than 200 hands, I believe.

Didn't he find this out for himself last year and have to quit before he went busto? Maybe I'm misremembering and it was another live pro that had to tuck tail and run.

what is adz real name?
09-10-2007 , 04:44 PM
love the trash talk from daniel, i have a lot of respect for the guy's game, and tend to believe him when he sounds this confident. can anyone enlighten some of us on ADZ's skills? and who is the favorite here?
09-10-2007 , 04:47 PM
i dont think adz is that great, but he will DEFINITELY crush negreanu in online HU nl, though daniel prob wont ever play more than 1 table so it would take about 14 years to see any long term distribution.

lesson #1: transitive property

most everyone > negreanu
adz > most everyone
adz > negreanu

one of the posters in that thread said he heard that ADZ won or chopped the championship tourney at Turning Stone. If this is true and assuming it was the East Coast Poker Championship this year then it would have to be Matt Marafioti

NWP also mentions it in this link

If you take a step back and look at this from Daniels perspective you can definitely see why he's getting so defensive. He has had some excellent results live, is widely regarded by the 'non-online' community as one of the best in the world. Therefore when he reads forums like this where he is considered a huge underdog to the top online players and sometimes berated you can clearly see why he's tilted and talking smack.

With that being said, and I'm trying to be objective here, he is oblivious to how good the best online players are and how tough it is in these games. The effort that these players make to become better players by playing millions of hands, posting thousands of posts while making range/odds calculations is something that is inconceivable to a player who has played live all his life (often other games than NLHE). Also for a person that plays 20 hands an hour it's difficult to grasp that the true variance of the game can make you lose for dozens of thousands of hands when being a favourite at the table (especially true at heads up).

There's no doubt in my mind that the absolute majority of the best NLHE players in the world are mainly online experts. I wish that someday when I'll watch tv and hear about the best players in the world this fact will be acknowledged.

I don't think ADZ would have a great chance over time against daniel. Not saying ADZ is bad, Daniel is just a great player.

And therein lies the problem.

He refuses to believe anything other than he's the best in the world at every table he sits, live/online/PLO/NLHE/LHE, whatever. Some consider that a positive virtue, but, for most it ends up being foolishly bold.

I don't think there's any shame in tipping your hat and saying, "No, he's just better than me."

I doubt very much you ever see Negreanu say anything like that.

Nice post.

DN killing the table currently wtf with Adz sitting out

Daniel didnt continue to play FLHE HU vs Patrick because he thought he was better. In his own words, he continued to play because Patrick was so much better than DN was learning so much from playing against him. So he can definately be very humble about his own skills as well.
