The Wiki article is just for information on Lifespring. If you search Google for information on CC, you'll find a bunch of stuff tying John Hanley to it.

Did you see those guys selling power/balance bracelets at the WSOP last summer? Those booths aren't cheap, and they seem to have sold a lot of them. I humored them while they gave me a BS pitch, and they showed me a bunch of pictures on their phone of poker players wearing their bracelets. Quite a few of them were people that I considered to be rather intelligent. It was disappointing to see.

I don't know, man. Smart people do stupid things sometimes. I certainly have.

Yeah, as a wider PSA this should serve as warning that a pretty good attitude to take regarding this sort of stuff is that it doesn't work until proved to work. Do your research, see what people are saying about it.

OFC Negranu is involved in a cult. He seems to be pretty devoutly Christian.

The media file linked on the DD website in the middle has an experience shared by Pasha (Antonio's brother)...looks like Antonio and his family have been roped in. hope to god that phelps is not getting recruited by them LOL

Edit: Listening to negreanu's speech at the end.

analogy that he uses: "If you see a movie you like, you want all your friends to watch it."

I don't think you'll often see people smart enough to understand molecular biology or quantum theory believing in power bracelets.

2k+ years ago this one long haired bearded dude started a cult. Alot of people didnt like it because it went against their beliefs. They ended up killing and crucifying the head of the organization. I hear the cult ended up getting pretty popular.

Probably not, seeing as how it's sort of connected to what they are actually knowledgeable about. Pretty sure they have their own blind spots/weaknesses in other regards, however.

People do dumb ****, even intelligent ones. I'm just grateful that whatever leaks I have arent as embarassing as falling for this cult crap :P

List of poker players I have heard are involved in Choice Center Las Vegas: Theo Tran, Sorel Mizzi, Gavin Smith, Antonio Esfandiari, Erick Lindgren, David Williams, Nick Helmuth, Mike & Nick Binger, Jeff Gross, Mathew Waxman, Brian Ballsbaugh, Adam Junglen

Definitely not.
Uhhhhh just because something MAY BE a cult doesn't mean it IS a cult. Ya, last time I checked, Christianity was a kind of cult when it started. Would you call Christianity a cult? I wouldn't because it's what I believe but it definitely has cult like features. All religions do.

Pigs are pinky and fleshy. Humans are pinky and fleshy. Pigs are Humans.

Faulty logic.

All churches are cults. Some less extreme than others.

The difference between a religion and a cult is basically just number of followers. You can ridicule dnegs for joining a cult if you want (and you should) but its really no more crazy than any other religion. They are just a little less subtle about hiding their real goals, money and power.

Nice to get some people in here who agree with me. First one in the thread to disagree with OP is always called a troll.

Last I checked this "cult" isn't out killing people or performing mass suicides, so frankly, who cares. If these people want to spend their money on it and ruin relationships etc. that is there problem no one elses.

Doesnt surprise me. I'm sure many poker players doubt their self worth and how much they contribute to society. They also have massive egos. Feed into that and youve got them hooked. It still amazes me though that people at no point think to themselves "Hey this place seems an awful lot like those cults that i keep hearing about." Like surely at some point in the process it must occur to you that you are involved in cult-like activities and that everything you have ever read about cults is bad.
